Talking no 2-3 shift 82 928 auto-Fixed!!

First of all a great big thanks to Bill Ball and Steve Cattaneo for the help and guidance For those of you who don't know the story hers a quick recap. My car had sat for quite some time before purchase, and after getting her home and up and running I discovered that it would not shift into 3rd. Bill suggested that I use a cleaner to get out the gunk- which it deffinatly needed!! Also Steve suggested that the VB might have a problem with one of the shift ***** banging up the housing- which it had, but as of yet not to the point of needing replaced- but will most likely need in the future. What I did find out though was that one of the Po's had been into the VB before and had not gotten things back together properly and also even though I had run tons of cleaner through it the VB was extemly dirty on the inside and most of the valves were very stiff or stuck. Well after a thorough cleaning and putting everything back to where it belongs! I NOW HAVE 3RD GEAR!!!!! Wow, what a difference going down the road!!

Thanks Again everyone
Mike

I got away with just a couple of fluid changes and a can of TransMedic type additve when I lost my first gear downshift a couple of years ago. Recently, it seems slower to drop into first, although it still gets there. At my next fluid and filter I think I'll do what you did and clean out the VB. Glad it worked for you. Steve is The Man when it comes to our trannys.
