WOW,

My name is David Saputo and I was a partner at RS Racing for a short while. I walked out of there
in October due to the fact that nobody could seem to follow through with what were many very, very
good concepts and designs.I can't begin to tell you how frustrating it was to work with Phil because
in my opinion and I've been a 911 specialist for over 25 years (used to work for and own Mike Saputo Inc/Porsche only service in Walnut Creek in the 80's and 90's) he is probably the most knowledgeable
person in the high performance/Porsche enviorement I have ever been around. If I didn't see it for myself I would never had believed the shortcomings that I saw come from so much potential! I put my heart and soul out for those people at that shop and believed that there was going to be some big
time developments coming out of that shop because the we many many projects and developing technologies we had been working on.I'll never understand.I can put you in touch with Phil if there is anything your trying to resolve with him or whatever you may need. you can email me at david@911developments.com and I will make sure he gets any message you may have for him. I didn't realize how bad his rep was getting he really is a nice guy.

Bad reps spread slightly slower than the speed of light, on the internet.

So what happened? No need to name names and sling dirt, I'm asking more about the general human interactions and decision-makings of a failing start-up. I need to know the pitfalls to avoid.

You have a unique perspective on the situation, thanks for sharing.

That's the same thing I keep going over and over and there are several bad decisions that were made there. First and foremost we did not have enough funds to really even have a chance. It's a long story but ill try to break it down for you.The company was originally started up as Euro Racing Technologies, something happened between the two partners, about $100,000 of funding was with held and the company basically was liquidated. There were 4 employee's including myself who basically were able to get legal counsel and force out the partner who withheld funds (he deserved it) RS Racing is born and with it over 100 years of Porsche experience with a 928 specialist , myself a 911 specialist since 78 and another who worked in my shop for 8 years. The other a machinist with all his equipment. On paper it looked good, a newly renovated ($100,000 worth) 12,000sf shop54 min from sears point. Missed phone calls, lack of part suppliers , I had sales reps from IMC, SSF and a few others, nothing ever became of them! Our 1st priority was the carbon fiber intakes, they still haven't produced any! (I am working on one for the 911 and am making very good progress for hopefully the same type of results, I will follow through!) Thats about all I know or maybe care to share! Anyoneslooking for a 911 specialist
with 29 years of experience? RS Racing is now out of business

Thank you for sharing...that sure explains a LOT ! and not the first performance specialty business to experience such issues... nor the last . The vast majority of all business failures are due to lack of working capital. Every one tends to understimate how long it takes to develop and produce a product and how much money will be consumed in the process. Selling the IDEA is relatively easy making it happen is NOT. It usually takes an optimist to start a business and that optimism is not always an asset.

Very true words Jim. Throw in a surprise twist here or there and it gets even more so...

That is too bad... I thought I remember they had a get together last summer... Too bad they could not keep from breaking up...

Any idea if they have any of the titanium valve components they want to liquidate? Did they ever actually build any heads with titanium valves?

My name is Ken Adolf, and I am one of the principals of RS Racing Developments. After David Saputo and the company parted ways, there were four partners remaining. In the intervening time, we have tried as hard as possible to generate enough business to “re-start” the manufacturing process that was the original intent of, first, Euro Racing Technologies, then RS Racing Developments.
And as Jim Bailey, and a couple of others have posted, sufficient working capitol is sometimes very, very hard to acquire. That, and some internal problems in the company, eventually made it impossible to continue as such.
We are now in the process of vacating the building, and trying to sell products and inventory to settle accounts.

This is sad. Ken has been a real supporter of the 928 community and personally very helpful to me. I met Phil several years ago when he was first showing the CF intake. Very exciting products and it was great to see the shop when a large group of us visited there in October. I'm sorry all the pieces just did not fall into place and I hope Ken and Phil continue to work with the 928 community.

---KEN ADOLF and DAVID SAPUTO---
Please PM, email, or call me (phone number upon request).
My father owns the midnight blue GTS that Heinrich made mention of.
I would like to talk to each of you about the situation and current state of affairs with Phil and the remaining bits of company.

PLEASE BE ADVISED.

In regard to some of the above posts, David Saputo is NO LONGER a partner or employee in RS Racing Developments, and has not been for several months now. And as such he has NO SAY in any transaction regarding RS Racing Developments.

If anyone has any questions, or business regarding RS Racing Developments, please contact me directly.

I apologise for "washing our linen" in public, but it seems that I no longer have a choice.

Thank-you,
Ken Adolf

OK, so is the original poster (Mark) going to receive his plenum or a refund anytime soon? I'm assuming he had to make a deposit when he placed his order?
