That was me! I had no idea you were there, but I do remember the 944...we were the only front engine Porsche's as I recall, you were in the other run group. I went up with my friend Tom (Arena Red 993 C4S) and Dennis was there as an instructor (his 928 was sick that day). Great day, great weather....hope this next one is just as nice. Call in sick that day. If that doesn't work, call in dead.

Calling in dead might work, but then I would have a miserable day on track worrying that the Karmic Gods of irony would find my vulnerable position at 100mph irresistable.
I lost half the day last year due to the clutch, but it did afford me the opportunity to go up in the tower and watch the run groups. I was amazed how deep into turn one you were able to go before coming off the throttle. Also, your exhaust note was pure delight amongst the quiet buzzing of the 911's.

Ha! that was probably when Dennis was at the wheel, otherwise I was simply getting on the brakes when Dennis said "OK, brake NOW". Dennis is a very good instructor, he'll basically drive you around the track by telling you what to do and when to do it ("Full throttle, brake now, off the brake, turn in, throttle, aim for the apex....") vs. other instructors telling you what you just did ("you turned in too soon, next time keep it outside longer...").

I wish I had some video/audio of the exhaust at redline in 3rd gear nearing the turn 1 brake zone....sounds cool on the inside as well, even with helmets on.

Thanks Rich. Instructing is always easier when you have a good student like you who listens when you say "brake now". Sometimes it's, "brake now, brake NOW, BRAKE NOW!!!@@!"

We're going to have to get video from outside the cars this time. Plant someone on pit straight and blast by at full song. I already have enough in-car footage, I want to see what it looks/sounds like from the outside.

Dennis is a great instructor.......it was so much fun!! Hopefully he can ride with me again and give me a few more pointers......

Funny enough the last instructor I had in October was the head guy from Hooked on Cars.....after a couple laps he kept telling me to go faster and faster......damm I was pushing the car hard......& he kept yelling....."More Gas"....."Brake Later"......."Full Throttle".....Dennis is much more mellow....having Dennis in the car in the morning allowed me to drive better in the afternoon!

Richard, I have your registration and you are GTG on the driver list. Chris, I have you driving a 99 Miata...is that correct? I assigned you #17 btw. Brian and the rest, can I still expect to see you guys in April?

I'm thinking of adding some Porsche-specific prizes to the raffle. I used to have a 2.7 911S so you KNOW that I am on a first name basis with a lot of Porsche mechanics here in Sacramento. You might win, or you might be able to trade. Any suggestions (ewww I knew I shouldn't have asked that question)?

Hey gang, just an FYI... our advanced group is now 44% full and intermediate group B1 is now closed... our second intermediate group B2 is now being assigned drivers. Those of you already signed up - Chris, Joe, Rich & Brian - thanks for your support... The rest of you I hope you can make it, its gonna be a lot of fun come April.

I think Dennis's old engine is just sitting on a stand at Devek...... however the "new" one is in and working....it sounded quite healthy when I was there a couple weeks back!
