Elitism is a belief or attitude that an elite— a selected group of persons whose personal abilities, specialized training or other attributes place them at the top of any field (see below)— are the people whose views on a matter are to be taken most seriously, or who are alone fit to govern. Thus elitism sees an elite as occupying a special position of authority or privilege in a group, set apart from the majority of people who do not match up with their abilities or attributes. ...

Ahhh but in this instance the majority believes it's an unreasonable beef. For two reasons:

1) most here have posted that wheels are not equal to wheels and caps and
2) MANY here have offered a gift, yet we're told "I don't want your gifts, i want the seller to give me something he disagrees he owes"

How elitist is that

Or,

Meritocracy
from: http://www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Meritocracy

Meritocracy is a system of government or other organization based on demonstrated ability (merit) and talent rather than by wealth, family connections (nepotism), class privilege, cronyism or other historical determinants of social position and political power.

The word "meritocracy" is now also often used to describe a type of society where wealth, position, and social status are in part assigned through competition or demonstrated talent and competence, on the assumption that positions of trust, responsibility and social prestige should be earned, not inherited or assigned on arbitrary quotas. Meritocracy is used to describe competitive societies, that accept large inequalities of income, wealth and status amongst the population as a function of perceived talent, merit, competence, motivation and effort.

On the bright side, after talking about this thread with my wife, she now understands that if she happens to find some design90s or CS rims for me, that she should not expect to get center caps unless it is explicity stated.

There is no twilight zone of honesty in business. A thing is right or it's wrong. It's black or it's white.

This is EXACTLY why I never <YAWN> sell anything. Because many buyers expect you to lower your price below reasonable and then they come back and have some sort of problem. .... ignoring as-is statements and photos ... nah, not worth it.

I think this is the best post of this painful thread considering he has 6 things for sale in his signature . I do however agree with heinrich on the downsides he lists. I went through and cleaned out a lot of my old ski racing gear and had the worst experience I've ever had selling a turtleneck that went for 1.25. Many times it's not worth it.

I do however believe that the seller should at least attempt to make right with the buyer. Whether or not that means accepting a return or coming to an agreement on the centercaps. They should meet in the middle.

A few quick observations:
1 - I know Scott - he is a stand-up guy. Had soccer just approached him in a REASONABLE manner ("payal dispuit will be filed...") he would have been MORE then happy to provide them...
2 - Not even going on a Porsche...(speaks for itself)
3 - Clear coat coming off...LOOK AT THE DAMNED PICS YOU POSTED!!!
4 - You've had offers now for about enough center caps to go on ALL of Scott's cars...
5 - CAVEAT EMPTOR....NEVER assume anyting is included unless it specifically states so! (I, too, have bought NUMEROUS sets of wheels. I am always pleasantly surprised by tose FEQW instances where they are included...
6 - Look at the pics again - those caps don't even go to those wheels...chrome/shiny caps...anodized wheels...
7 - "i guess you porsche people do things differently then the rest of the world". Thank goodness for that!
8 - You were asked several times to post a link to the original ebay listing...you have failed to do so...Until you do, all we have is a "he said/she said"...I'll side with Scott (a Rennlist MEMBER and friend, whom I believe) until you give us more to go on that an abbreviated version of your side of the story.

soccer - save your dignity while some of it still exists...delete this thread!
