You know you can teach a parrot to say words repeat what it has heard....but it really knows little about 928s...Yet someone hearing those words might actually think it means something ! There is a search function where you can dredge up old threads and numerous comments on just about any topic so perhaps directing some of those "new questions" back to the old "answers" might be more helpful than posting OPINIONS based on very limited knowledge,experience,mechanical aptitude, seat time in a 928. If you have never taken all the suspension off a 928 , never changed a transaxle , never changed a clutch , never seen the inside of a 928 engine, never changed brakes, never totally gutted a 928 .... that might mean ...you are a parrot. One thing I learned many years ago was I learn NOTHING when I am talking, all I hear is the sound of my own voice...which of course I think sounds wonderful !

Pretty is subjective , fast is relative and subjective , ownership is a FACT unless it is financed.... As I have stated several times there is NO LOGICAL reason to have a 928....something about it just has to make you SMILE ! You either get it or you do not and I feel sorry for those who do not ...

Short Post Summary: Lets' play nice together. Everyone has something to contribute...even Lo Mileage Willerhots. No matter what, 928s rule.

Long Post Version: Whoever Doc Mirror is, I certainly don't count him as a newbie...even at just 3 yrs. Whether he discloses his private and confidential information is his business. He's been a tremendous resource for information that fits my needs...as well as many others (Think AC). Also, Ed Hughes does his share of good stuff...et al. If someone is posting fluff...after a while you can pick these out. I suspect most of us have done some of this. It's not totally a technical posting area. Camraderie is also built. I get essential 928 knowledge from reading Rennlist and other publications, and posing questions/dilemmas/even controversial issues (928 value trends is perhaps the most sensitive/controversial. Ouch!!!). I get help from Rennlist when I get stumped, but I'm only good to give advice AFTER I've BTDT. I would not own a 928 if it were not for the Rennlist resource. I don't agree with everyone (although I do respect any advice given by someone who's had first hand experience...and others with good memories who can point me to the best resource that I've not run across. At one time or another, many of the hands-on newbies will have to get their hands really greasy on many different 928 projects...and some will thrive and grow in knowledge and others will mess up their cars or get tired of them and pass them on to new enthusiasts who may not know what they're getting into..but who may get hooked and come to Rennlist for ownership survival information and to correct PO errors. The camraderie of this group is the best I've known.

The Audi TT list is mostly guys who have the local Audi shop put on custom wheels for them or brag about their new sound system. The 968 group is small and quite divided with arguments...mostly ego/personality related. Makes it not so good to visit..nor 968 ownership as satisfying. Also, 968ers generally do not have as much hands on experience as 928ers...but they're getting there as their cars get older. The 928ers are genuinely a great group of guys...with only a few curmudgeons. But even they add interest to the group and stimulate discussion that usually ends up in a learning experience for many. I have no clue what the 911 guys are like although the 944 group is really an active and zealous group. 95Juan adds lots of humor....BIGS has an avatar that inspires...and his advice, when given, is always mature and sound. Garth (w/the beautiful wheels) is one you want to listen too. Rog100 is an incurable 928 nut who's a strong contributor.and getting stronger. I don't know what we'd do without the corrective influences of the Big Three contributors (Jim is "family" everywhere; Devek has some hands-on technical capability in building 928s; Dave R. and Jeannie area as nice as they come and willing to help out too. Dave Lomas (SLC) and his group are up anc coming with new things all the time, as well as the eastern MotorSports group...and others. And the list goes on and on...not to mention 928 innovators like Dr. Ott and PorKen. What a great and diverse group!

To its credit, Rennlist keeps a lot of cars on the road and attracts and helps keep a lot of 928 enthusiasts in the game.

Heinrich may post a lot but he's absolutly got 928 supercharger energy in his veins and garage full of 928s. I don't know if he's rebuilding a 928 engine on his kitchen table or not but he's just that dedicated to the car. There are many dyed in the wool 928ers on this list. Others will buy the cars and join so we have to work with them until they eventually become one of the regulars...and eventually gain the knowledge to help the future buyers. If the 928 enthusiasm goes away..the values will (continue) to drop and the car could eventually become an Edsel or Corvair like car. Interesting cars with a few specialized followers.

Since I've joined, a dozen or so of really strong and knowledgeable 928ers have either passed on (literally) or moved on to new interests. One or two left POed. In my mind, the grandfather (although he's not all that old) of 928 knowledge is Wally Plumley...and althought not as vocal on the lists as he used to be, he still posts periodically...but he doesn't have to post often since his previous posts/how-to writings, etc. could easily comprise a 928 How to Maintain book. When he talks...evenyone should shut up and listen. He must have a 928 photgraphic mind. His advice just needs to be searched out (Nichol's site and other places). I miss Schaeffer and his paint knowledge (anyone know how he's doing?) and Gene O'Rourk (sic) who's surely racing Testarossas in his 928 at celestial speeds as we speak. And what about WK, the Salt Lick City flash? He only has a half-dozen or so 928s? Dan the Pod guy? Great knowledge there. And, as I said, many others....some pretty new.

The relatively new, or slow learning 928ers (like me) should be tolerated until we learn how to be a productive part of the community. Heh...there once was a poll posted that almost made me sell my 928s I was so offended. My long posts? Well, you don't have to read them and you can put me on the ignore list if you want. I read most posts and learn something from about every one. With or without Rennlist I'll probably survive the attacks and stay with these great cars. I only have 2 928s and already am planning "the ultimate 3rd.." After my ship comes it or an unknown rich relative leaves me a pot of gold ("Hello, is this Willhoit?").

928s vs 951s vs 911s? Who cares?...they're all different and good (but very different steeds from the same stable). I like them all (but 928 best). I may even get a 911 (I hear gasps?) if the bank account and the right opportunity happen at the same time (Pray for me to cure my addiction)

If someone gets out of hand on the list, there's a nice way to clue them in...PMs work best w/o public embarrassment. If that doesn't work....block them and don't read their posts.

Your voice sounds good to us also! I'm overdue sending you an order. I'm working on the numbers right now for some stuff I need. Anyione who talks me "out of buying" $200 worth of cam gears has my respect.

If you don't understand the abstract beauty of being 'subjective' Buy a Chevy!

I know that this car( not finaced), at Roebling Road, near my house, ..can keep the pace, no Boost needed or allowed. Logic disappears with speed.

Be happy that you get it. ..and I agree that those who do not get it.. are just roadkill.

Choice of modern tires has really helped this car to update it's chassis.
