I have to say i don't quite understand what is going on here, as for the sunroof removal, I would buy a turret from 928 INTL and drill out the spot welds and then weld the factory roof in. This way you can be sure that you will have structural rigidity. I would also at the same time buy a sunroofless headliner. You will need to treat the welds for future corrosion. We have a product here called Penetrol for that, it is like fishoil in the way it can travel in a capillery action but it is a paint that sets and you can paint over it.

You have got you hands full there haven't you.

Cheers Greg

Sunroof precludes me using this car in various non-racing experiences on track before I get the 78 done as a race car, so I am, as you mention, fitting a sunroofless headliner into the car after the panel filled in somehow.

Undoing the welds was not something I felt I could tackle, so I did it this way, in my mind, not disturbing the structure.

I will still treat the metal though, as you suggested, thanks.

He would't need a headliner for a track car though.

So, Brendan, are you nearly 30 with 30 years of 928 experience?

I got all the parts labeled in boxes. The house is only dismantled to the point of a new bathroom or a new fixture here and there.

Nobody answered my post, so I'm hoping you guys can help. My 996 engine, wiring harness and ECU are being replaced, and in taking it apart there were large chunks of foam for sound deadening. I drive the car for street and track. I'm debating if I should leave the foam out for a better sound, but wonder if it would eventually be anoying on the street. I'm vaguely remembering that 996 GT3's are without this foam, and if so, they must be fine for street. What is your opinion. Sorry if this is hyjacking your thread. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

losing foam does nothing to engine sound, just allows road noise and the undesirable noises from the engine to enter the cabin.
