name names Randy..I read that whole thread and it seemed to me the 944/951 guys were the ones dishing it out and whining when it was served back to them.
The thread has brought out the closet 928 in me......
I've just disposed of my two 944s this year. Sold the 84 944 NA. Got rear-ended by someone in the 86 944 Turbo. This is now a good opportunity to consolidate the 4-bangers into an 8-banger. I've appreciated the technical insights of the 944 folks on Rennlist. But it is time to move on.
I am currently working on assignment in Singapore. My expat contract will end in August this year when I return to the home office in Portland, OR. I will be asking questions galore in this forum before I purchase my dream 928. I hope you will endure my newbie questions.
I am also in the process of ordering the 928 tech literature from Jim Moorehouse to get acquainted with the 928 model before making the purchase.
I am looking forward to joining this forum. Cheers.
I really didn't wish to post anything there, as it was 15 pages and growing and just got stupid. What it really turned into was jsut stupid, starting from REALLY FUNNY. The only ones that can even talk, without sarcasm are the 944turbo owners, as the N/As are just flat out SLOW. I have both and like both, but i just couldn't go from a performance car and settle with a 944, i had to step up. My point is clear as I can buy a 944 for $2k, a 951 is $10k, and an '85+ 928 is gonna run around $10k+, showing that those are really the lusted after cars.
Once again tho, it really was funny to start... anyone getting more serious is just kinda dumb. Lorax is a *** and needs to understand that there is ALWAYS someone faster and the 944 Turbo is NOT the car that is gonna bring you to the trash talking level he wants to be at. And im not even saying a 928 will bring him to that level either regardless of money. There is ALWAYS someone that spend a little more than you did, and lets never forget he is not stock. How can you ever preform a 'serious' non-stock to non-stock debate anyway?
I think it was funny tho that there are 500 posts and 480 of them were not 928 owners, LOL... Im not old, but definantly more mature than that thread by the time i saw it, i wish i was able to jump in in the first couple pages when it was pretty funny tho!
Good luck in your search when you return to the states. There's a great group of members here from the Pacific northwest, and I'm sure they will be most helpful. Be sure and check out the new visitors FAQ thread which is pinned at the top of this forum.
I think the thread validated the joke about the difference between a Porsche and a porcupine. On BOTH sides of the aisle. It was funny at first, then it went wrong.
My skin ain't thin, but it's just not fun anymore. I think it might be time to move on to a BMW E36. My 944 is starting to cost more in time and aggravation than it's worth, even as a first car for a car nut. 928s really don't appeal to me anymore, and 951s never really did in the first place.

I think most of us have had enough of the puking mouthed 944 owners. Their issue is nothing more than ***** envy.
No, actually we should let them keep BS talking. How many P-cars can you do like the ricers, but not actually "be a ricer"?
They apparently think they are a step above the Subi STI owners, because they own a Porsche. Maybe I should get a big *** wing on my car, some big wheels and a fart can on my car..........oh crap, wait. I have a wing, an RMB.........I"M A CLOSET RICER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bummer Randy shut it down........I guess Lorax didn't get out of kindergarten in time to respond to the sound thrashing he had on the topic!!!
If you haven't read it check page 12....I posted some FACTS about how fast 928 race cars are & asked for FACTS of a 944 race car that can match or beat those times......not once did ANY 944 owner say anything about it........nobody....nada...nothin......I thought there should be a bad *** 968 turbo engined 944 race car out there that is fast.....but I guess the driver sucks so the times suck too.... Having a skilled driver like Mark A in the "white zombie" makes it an easy arguement for us!
I remember when Car & Driver put a 968 tiptronic against a 2 door Ford Tempo V6. If you put your money on the Ford for the 0-60 time, you would have won. Were we supposed to be insulted when they were talking about the large size of our grand touring coupes? The last I checked, these things were supposed to be on the larger side. I guess that just makes it hurt more when the grand tourer (928) beats the sports car (944) on what could essentially be the 944's turf (the race track.)
As for Lorax, have we actually seen pictures of his 944 Turbo S?
I greatly dislike being stereotyped and lumped in with a bunch of pimplefaced hotheads. I am approaching 40years old and have a respect for most p-cars. Please don't paint all of us with the same broad brushstroke.
