Default X (pipe) marks the (G) Spot!

I put my new X-pipe on today, as well as the high flow cats. With the exception that I think the O2 sensor wires are at their maximum stretch, it went without a hitch. It feels and sounds awesome! The only problem is that with my small resonators and the RMB, it sounds a little too awesome, and I'm actually going out to put the stock muffler on.

For the record, even though I was working in the center of the car, my scissors lift allowed me to do this job with no issues. I still think the only thing I'd have trouble with, is a torque tube removal.

Here are some pics.

Hey Ed, I beat you by 2 days! Same kit and I loved it until my TB light came on .

Looks cool and congrats!

I see yours have that little bead of welding on the passenger side next to the air pump pipe. I was a little surprised to see that on mine, thought it would look better without it, but obviously it's there for some reason.

Is that a new lift? Is it a Mid-rise? Looks cool. Looks like you can get under the entire engine, is that right?

I think the O2 sensor would reach better on the passenger side since it comes down from the relay board, no?

Ed.........looking good.

Put the O2 sensor in the other side; you'll gain much wire space.

Looking nice. You should head over by my place so I can hear it before you put the stock muff on.

Nice install!

Be cautions of the O2 sensor cause the engine does rock when under load. I think it rotates towards the driver side and if the senor wire is already stretched to the max, it might rip them out of the sensor. If I’m correct with the way the engine moves then if you put the sensor on the passenger side, it will loosen the wires instead of stretching it even further.
Can you give the wire any more slack by feeding some from inside the car (fuse panel)?

Which Hi Flo's are you using? Also, are your resonators smaller than a GTS?

Looking good! Make sure you have anti-sieze on that O2 sensor and the bung too. Otherwise you'll be cutting them out later.

Let's see, in order (or so)
Mike, the lift is a couple of years old-it's a mid-rise.

The O2 wire comes out of the car in the center, so it looked to be 6-of-one, 1/2 dozen-of-another. I'll try switching. I did feed as much as I could out of the fuse panel. Plus, putting it on passenger side runs it around a sharp edge. I'll look at this part again.

I did put aniti-seize on everything.

Sean-too late, I wanted to get this all done before my wife got home.

Yes, these later S4's have smaller resonators than GTS', I've heard them referred to as GT's.

As the fuse panel is on the right thats the side I used for the O2 sensor. I also moved the wire assembly around the OEM cat heat shield which gave more slack.

Should'a posted a sound bite first. You car still looks much to clean underneath. I'm going to have to come over and do something about that.....

The engine rocks to the apssenger side and back (thx to new MM's) so I don't know if that would be an issue as the O2 wires come from the fuse panel to a hole in the RHS of the centre tunnel.

I cut the wires at the old sensor so when I installed the X with a new sensor I had plently to spare; sensor on RHS (passenger) of the X .

I may just get a new Universal sensor, they come with plenty of wire, IIRC. My check engine light is coming on.....

Gee, thanks for the offer Doc. I did record a clip, but I don't have a way to post it here.

Do check that again. It my look like it's in the center due to the shielding hiding it, but the wire actually passes through the passenger side of the console tunnel right next to the CE panel. You should be able to get more slack on the other side. I'm not sure why it was mounted so far out to the side of the pipe. Mine is further back on the X part and the 02 sensor wire reaches fine.
