This is correct! the hole is on the passanger side of the TT tunel and should work better if the sensor is installed on that side.

Thanks guys. Quick question: Would not having the air pump pipe (I cut the belt) not plugged cause the check engine light to come on? I think there's vacuum in this system, so I'm wondering if the open pipe is causing a fault.

Also, I hear what you're saying about the RH side and all, but the O2 as it sits comes smack dab out the middle. Maybe it was replaced at one point and not routed correctly.

Ed:

That is weird. It is true that the sensor is mounted on the center of the original H, so the exit point doesn't matter for stock exhaust. Maybe the wire hole was moved in 91. My wire hole is above the passenger side heatshield. Either way, it seems to me that it would have been better to have the bung placed further back, on or near the X. I gather you don't want it too far forward anyway or the sensor can overheat.

There is vacuum in the system.........it switches a valve alternating the air flow from the pump to the air filter or the cats. I assume your refering to the pipe which normally is attached to the cats is now open?

Looks good Ed

Who's X-pipe kit is it, and what is the cost?

Did the kit come with the cats?

Thanks,
Michael

Hey Ed,

I'm doing the exact same thing to my own shark right now

For your check engine light, is it possible that the wires of the O2 sensor, being to tight, got disconnected (better) or that one of the wires is cut or shorting (worse)

Yes, that is what I refer to. I'm going to get a proper cap/plug for it tomorrow.

That is a definite possibility, if it isn't the open air pipe, which will be capped tomorrow. I think I'll end up getting a new O2 sensor with a longer lead. You'll love this Paul. The bottom end torque is really noticeable.

It's the Dave Lomas pipe, and I got it thru Roger Tyson @ www.928srus.com, cost is about $400 for the pipe, and $300 for the cats, give or take.

Good stuff...........you may also want to plug the vacuum line to the 'air line' switch..........eliminates a possible leak.

BTW...........welcome to the X club

No troubles Ed

That bracket shipped out in the wrong box. Sorry again for the delay in the replacement.

I hope the radio suits you fine. It was a great unit for me. To bad it was not MP3 because it had a nice factory look to it in my dash. My new Alpine deck has a silver hue to it, (this model has since changed back to black ) and I am not happy with how it flows with my interior.

Thanks again,
Michael

Ed, I think your ck eng. light is due to the O2 sensor wires being cut or shorted. We cut the air pump belt on my GTS, Roger's and Ernie's GT when we installed our X pipes and none of us got a check engine light. Also we all used the bung on the RH side. The stock location for the O2 sensor is through a rubber grommet on the RH side of the tunnel.

Thanks Jim, I'm headed to Zims tomorrow for a new O2 sensor to take that out of the equation, and to deal with the short lead problem. The way the lead is on the existing one, I could't get it over to the passenger side bung.
