Looks like a great deal to me!
And yes, this time I do have a personal interest in the sale...................
Outstanding car, regardless.

there it is, zermatt silver, seems everyone of these cars with this color needs a complete respray. What a bunch of crap paint porsche put on this one.
Honestly dosent seem like any great buy, $30K needs a full respray, an auto, 80K miles, ok interior (although i do much prefer this grey to the darker grey available.)
I didnt bother to read the rest of the ad to see about mechanical history or anything.
I thought the Black 94 GTS on ebay last week that ended and only got to $24,500 (reserve not met) was a really really nice car. Looked perfect. I wonder who got that one?

'93 GTS, needs a metal up repaint and TB/WP plus whatever else shows up? Looks like a minimum of $40K for an auto with 80,000 miles. I guess it it would be a great deal for the seller.

I hate to say this, but I have to agree. Based on real world numbers these days, this car is in crappy condition for a GTS. Actually pisses me off that i have to conform to this.
^%#$%@#@^&!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who in their right mind leaves this car to bake out the desert heat!?!?! The pictures are crap and I can bet the car is in worse condition than it appears. The seller I would expect, is either clueless about cars or is a flat out liar. How would one expect that this car is sound if the owner never had the good sense to take care of all that you can see? Who wants to bet me that it goes much deeper than the poor condition of interior and exterior? I say $20K to get it to where it should be....no slack jobs.
What a F***ing waste!!!
I say buyer beware!!!!

Not for $29K........heres an idea.......pay about $600 like I did to fix the seats.......figure about $5K for a decent repaint (assuming you do alot of the work)......then it would be worth quite a bit more....it will be hard to sell otherwise.....

The value in the car is that it is a "doctors car" - has been owned by doctors all its life, therefore must be well taken care of (because docs can afford it, so they say). That accounts for the 10 grand it's overpriced by... In fact, I'd say that 10k is not nearly enough to bring it up to standard. This might be a car that Motorsport in SLC could ****** up for cheap, restore during downtimes in their shop, and then resell...

That 87 is the nicest example I have seen yet of a car of that year! All except for the misaligned/bent hood. ( Link to feedbacked 87 S4 )
I also agree with Nicole. 10G should easily get this GTS where it should be.
IMO though, when selling a car that needs any work other then minor, the seller should expect to discount the car $1.50 on the dollar for these repairs. Anything more is overvalue. For example if "any car" could be worth 40K when in excellent condition, and it would need 10K to get it there from it’s present state, I don’t think it unreasonable to expect it to sell for 25K. I wouldn’t pay any more for such a car.
The other issue with cars like this is at least you see it in the rough. The seller could easily have paid for a cheap crappy paint job that would have destroyed this car for any of us real enthusiasts, but got the car nice and shiny for the camera. So, it is hard on the eyes now, but is far better then a $2000 re-spray.
BTW, isn't that H who sold him his wheels on Jan 11th?
Cheers,
Michael

I have to agree with the majority of the comments here. Not a knock against you, Todd, but that car really needs a repaint. It does not present itself very well. I would have a tough time paying more than $20k for it. I'm surprised you don't get it repainted and sell it for a higher dollar amount. Oh well, I hope you make some moeny on it.

Yes, this is my Ebay listing. However, this is the first time I've ever taken on a listing for a seller of a 928 that I don't actually own. Therefore, I had the seller do a full walk around on the car and describe every little detail right down to the tinyist imperfections. Then I had him take pictures of everything you see in the ad, and posted them.
In addition, I spent nearly an hour on the phone with the mechanic who's taken care of the car since 30K. He said the car is in 100% perfect mechanical condition and that there are no issues whatsoever.
The pictured areas of the paint along with the drivers seat are the only imperfections on the car. It does not need a total respray. And that drivers seat re-dye is nothing. If this were my car, yes I'd put $2-3K into it and you'd think it was showroom. So please don't make something out to be worse than it is. This is a nicer example than you might think.
I've bought (as you can see from my Ebay *928gts* username) many 928's over the years. This one is no different from all the rest with the exception it has over 40,000 miles on it. These cars always need something regardless of their mileage. And to spite what the seller might, and usually always says, 90% of these cars have already had some paintwork in their lifetime. And yes, I'm talkin' about the 20,000 mile car's as well!
So when I add pictures to my listings, I always put the good one's in right along with the bad one's. That way, there's no "well, why didn't you say something about this?" afterwards. I would hate that if I were the buyer, as I've been on the receiving end of that deal to many times myself.
Now, if I wasn't already jammed up with two GT's and one GTS that are going to be for sale as soon as they're in concours condition, then I'd have already bought this one. But, I only have so much money to spend on these cars, and I just couldn't take on another on. So therefore, I consigned it.
Someone made a comment that the pictures were bad. Well, I agree, they are. But when the doctor that actually owns the car sent them to me in an e-mail, I tried to upload them as usual onto the Ebay ad, and it came back that they were to small. Yes, it's usually the other way around, I know. So, I had to make large copies of them and then re-upload them. So, that's why. However, thank you for reminding me that I need to add to the listing that I can send better pictures to any prospective buyer via a simple e-mail.
This car has a BIN of $28,900, but the reserve is far less. This would make a great deal for someone who doesn't mind taking this spring to make it perfect. And without spending an additional $10K, either.......................

Eh, you're right. I got it backwards. More sleep required (instituting 2am curfew). Anyway, it's not his car after all. He only knows it at arm's (er, phone line) length. The car is in far, far worse condition cosmetically than my 175K mile 89, and unfortunately, in the passenger car business, cosmetics rule in terms of value (unless we are talking about a barn-find Shelby Cobra). There are no good pictures of the dash, pod or rear quarters, and no mention of their condition. The clear coat will continue to peel progressively all over the car. It needs to be completely stripped an repainted. This car spent a lot of time outside (i.e., not garage stored) and that usually results in widespread damage to the interior, exterior, complex electrics, and rubber bits everywhere. It may pass mechanical scrutiny now, but it's a timebomb for a lot of rehabilitation. I've seen many cars with half the miles of my car that are ready to fall apart, with brittle wiring, vacuum lines and hoses, and the difference is protection from the elements. Now, this specific car may not be in THAT bad shape, but you have to suspect that it is until you get up close and personal with it. I have a buddy with a low-mile 87 that runs like a top, but everything on the car is breaking off, falling apart or not working. Every week he has a new problem and the interior is rather shot. You wouldn't believe that he and I own the same make and model.
It's probably not a good idea to sell cars you don't own or have in your possession. I'm sure Todd is trying to do the guy a favor, but it's best to just help with the mechanics of the ad and have the actual owner post it under his ID. My neighbor had a 57 T-bird he wanted to sell. I helped him put together a workable eBay ad but had him post it under his ID. That worked out well.
