Default Changing the insides of a G28 to something else?

Has anybody considered changing out the guts of a G28 and keeping the bare minimum of expensive Porsche only parts, new shafts, gears, keep the case and what else no idea? Or is this the path to insanity and $27k racing transmissions?

It is.

Someone mentioned doing this, but also in the same breath mentioned "insane" prices.

WTF is with you dude?

why dont you buy a 599 ferrari or something you will turn out ahead, everything on your car seems to need modification, front seats, headliner, rear seats, engine, now transmission. Is there anything that meets your standards? Remember i think you paid less than 10K or the car right? But i do remember you make more per hour then most private shops do for repair work.

you want to add airbags to the car next week, so you can "drop it in the weeds"? Will that be the question tomorrow, why Air Ride Technologies dosent have a kit for the 928, then what, maybe spinners for wheels. Then maybe a heads up display? then what else, LED headlights??????

Just drive the car! and take a break from this board.

I suppose someone could take the innards of the c6 transmission, or even something like a very strong and replacable Tremec 5spd or a Getrag 6spd, machine a new case (?) or machine something so it cam go in the back where it belongs - but then the shift linkage, the half shaft issues, etc.

Lets just get you a 5.0:L engine, which will not break your transmission in any normal to moderate use, and we can burn that transmission bridge when we get to it....

I can still drive a complete but unassembled 5.0L bottom end to you within 24 hours. 1000 dollars. Like I said, I can throw in 4 sets of rings, and some other stuff.

Thumbs down

your a complete tool!

Please, these are threads from our man who has never identified himself but who i now assume is "Dan Glerb" From the Glerb family obviously.

I give you.........

"spring rates for seats"
WTF, like porsche had dif seats for fat asses and thin models????

tips on balancing your own tires
yeah ok, i balance my own wheels on my work bench

"GT engine in 83"
Everyone has told you you should have bought a later car

"electric fans in 83"
again as above

"replacing battery tray"
WHY!

anyone reengineered a new motor mount?
Cause the expensive Porsche and the really cheap Ford arent enough, we need middle ground here.

replacing lug nuts with ones from ebay
Lets test out ebay crap on our 170mph cars (150 mph ish in your case)

who makes the best steering rack?
Again porsche has no idea how to build a car of course, there must be something better, maybe somethinf from a BMW or VW, just for the sake of being well...different

anyone want to be a rejex dealer?
just order it online from one of 10 places

"redoing the AC with modern parts"
again the car has a horse crap vent system, glad you never bought a 911. The 928 when in good order is plenty cold enough. FIX YOURS instead of reinventing the wheel

"headroom hunt"
cause your very tall, or just from your abnormally large head, which must explain where all this knowledge comes from.

"non DIY repair stories and cost"
This was supposed to be some kind of cost analysis, IF ANYTHING this should have proved to you that YOU should not have bought a 928, its too expensive to fix for someone that dosent know how to operate a screwdriver. I dont car how much you make per hour.

My favorite thread "making a back seat that someone could fit in"
That ones a beauty! This was the thread where it was suggested that the car be made into a 3 seater. LOVELY!

Take a break from the board dude

Your transmission is fine, your engine is fine, your headroom is fine, your steering rack if fine, so is your AC, your seat springs, BUT your aftermarket stereo antenna looks like crap. FIX THAT

Ryan, you've got this guys number!

Let's look at it this way. Whether or not this guy intends on doing any of this, he is pretty much fishing...or as others would have it, is a TROLL. This troll has been fed a lot by members that buy into his posts. They are inconspicuous by all accounts, but as you have done, putting them all together spells MORON.

We can only wish this guy goes away and makes use of his useless time with some other marque. However, if he does complete all of these projects he inquires about, he will have a 928 that is the laughing stock of the Porsche world.

So, me thinks this clown ain't doin sh*t except for spending his time trying to think of subtle ways to suck enthusiasts in for his own twisted sense of humor. In time, he will be banned or will have run out of food.

Danglerb (M.F.) do us ALL a favor and please leave this community!

Ryan you never let me have any fun like all the other kids.

Got my new electric fan via UPS yesterday, still waiting on the controller, but it will be in within the week.

My 5 spd isn't fine, it needs a $500 Porsche only ball bearing on the input shaft and new syncros, which leads me to consider other options.

You do know how forum ignore works don't you?
