Adam I ran in 410 Modified Production and 600 SuperStreet. For Modified
Production I had to run stock exhaust and heads. The heads were milled,
cylinders ported and bored 4 over (max allowed). Pistons were also modified.
I was running TZ needle bearings, because the stock one would disintegrate
at 10,000 rpm. The exhaust was internally modified so they could still be called
"stock". I had to run stock carbs, but with mains 4 sizes larger, and some
radical needle jets. Was wicked in it's day, just run of the mill nowadays.

I can't even imagine what a herd of those things would have sounded like going around the track. The neighbors must have thought that the killer bees were on the move.

Looks like you had her tuned right too, not a poof of blue to speak off. Did you keep the oil injection or did you modify the cases to pre-mix?

Very Cool George. I don't suppose there's any chance you've got any 8mm footage floating around from the good ol' days that you could convert to digital?

Me and my wife Debbie (sorry about the low resolution) and then two of my favorite toys--the Shark and my 32' Chris Craft sailboat (which is on its way to Texas from Michigan right now)

Those are some of my favorite 'toys' as well! You will enjoy the potential of your Shark, OUT of the boundaries of Plano -- Beware of the local law enforcement officers... even Cincinnati Microwave (makers of the V-1) know ALL about your locals...

And, where are you going to keep your boat? The lakes are a bit different than what you might be used to. As a landlocked ocean sailor, this was hard to learn. However, the wind does blow!

OK, the obligatory pic... At the inaugural ALMS Detroit Grand Prix at Belle Isle, just after driving the Indy Pace Car on the track for a Viper parade, with a gorgeous Saleen S7 in front of me, manning the racing radio, doing some drive-by shooting (of pics) AND trying not to rear-end the Saleen! Tight track -- a beautiful venue...

Shooting into the sun, however, the logo water fountain is seen, with the (rarely occurring with this Viper group) car back-up...

In 410 Modified Production class, there'd be 60-65 bikes, 90% RDs. Was
quite a sight (and sound). It was easier to run in 600 SuperStreet, the 550
and 600 cc 4 strokes weren't as fast as a modified RD400. If fact at tracks
like Sears Point the RD were competitive with the 750 and 1000s. Tuning
took quite a lot of time. I'd run two sets of plugs per event (they were free)
and have to set the points between each heat. I tried electronic ignition, but
at the time it was less accurate then the stock mechanical points, though I
did run two car K-Mart ignition coils and a pair of large Mallory capacitors.
I had removed the oil injection and was running premix. I converted the oil
tank to a "cover" for my rear Safety Breaker, anti-locking brake valve (the front
one was inside my headlight). Lots of other mods also. It was a tough field
and to have a top 10 bike took lots of work and innovation.

Sorry, no video, I was just getting into SLRs at the time and shot mostly
slides. I haven't gotten around to digitizing them yet.

Here I am at Sears Point in front of John Williams on another RD:

George,

I'd definitely be interested in seeing more pics if you have them floating around.

Sorry for the temporary hijack y'all, back to regular programming.

Here's a pic of my two boys during the watermelon eating contest at our bi-annual family picnic.

Needless to say, next time they'll go lighter on the baked beans before the contest.
