Exclamation Porsche 928 Innovator of the Year?

Who should be nominated to be the Porsche 928 Innovator of the Year? Who's made the greatest contribution to the 928 fraternity with new innovation, product or technique? With some names, maybe we could have a poll? Maybe even a plaque or trophy of recognition?

I have an early nomination for 2007, with Porken and his tensioner. (hopefully these will be ready to go sometime this year once testing is complete.)

Hows that thing coming along anyway Ken?

I better stay out of this thread.

Then again.......producing a sleeved 7 liter 928 engine should be up there somewhere.

Tim Murphy - how many 928's are pushing over 400hp due to him?

Carl Fausset should be in the top 3

Mark Anderson & company is a no brainer along with the guys in Utah.

A poll like this will boil down to a vendor war unless we exclude vendors.

Louie with his ITB setup & monstor stroker motor

John Speake - Sharktuner

Porken with his inventions

John Kuhn's twin turbo(s)

Who else am I forgetting?

This will end up being a popularity contest - with all the turmoil around here lately.........is this really a good idea?

Paul Champagne for renewal of interiors
Rob Budd for renewal of interiors

I'll think of more...

Already, it's obvious that a LOT of 928 innovation/improvement efforts have been going on. This is great and will help assure that the 928 will be around a long time yet. It really would be difficult to filter to the single most influencial person, wouldn't it? I like what a lot those mentioned have done. This is not as trivial as I thought it might be. I had some people in mind but had not thought of others mentioned who are outstanding nominees also.

The point is well taken that there is a distinction between individual owners working in their garages (Ott, PorKen, et al) and the vendors who both love their cars and sell the innovations for the love of it or to help fund their next 928 improvement. I think all the Big Three (Soon to be Big Six?) got into the business because of their love for 928s and not necessarily the money. It's a relatively small niche market. And it's in our best interest to support those who innovate and support us...be they vendors or enthusiast/inventors. However, if the market gets diluted...would this mean that some vendors/innovators might be hurt and disappear into more lucrative markets?

Sometimes I worry too much about the future. I should go change my plugs and take a drive.

I vote for the Sharktuner. That little piece of technology will open up a new realm of performance to all cars built after mine.

Don't worry - there is a 3rd party management system being fitted to three 928's as we speak. My goal is to adapt this system to a 16V, starting with my 79 then my 81.

thanks for the nomination Andrew, & for using the word "Mid" as it is a mid-system. Finishing up the Auto stuff now, it will be more of a rear set-up, but still retains my custom muffler & can use a cat/muffler combination if necessary.
