Porsche 928 Innovator of the Year?

I truly admire all who invent, perfect and make parts for our aging cars. More power, more reliable engine devices, easier to use than factory tools and brand new interiors.........one could almost build a brand new car.
One issue I do see though is time to market............without factory $$$ and abundant staff many of these inventions go through long time periods before they're available for sale. Many factors contribute to these delays including material supply and sufficient test time but man it would be nice to be able select all the ingenious devices we banter about and produce a 2007 928 or as close to it.
If there ever was a poll there better be an all of the above button.
BTW............Who's working on the modern HVAC system?

Again I have to sing praise for Ken, as I did in post #3. Many people can adapt a modern technology like a supercharger or turbo. Those I think are fueled more by financial gain then by anythign else. (And there is nothing wrong with that) I really admire Kens idea (which i guess is also adapting an Audi part, so its not completely from scratch.) to go ahead with this tensioner. Especially so cause i cant imagine he makes much if anything from doing so. I also dont believe the tensioners are the devil like some would make them out to be. But I dont know anyone else that would even attempt to do a tensioner. Its awful risky, and you have got to really trust the person, but I do trust Ken and certianly appreciate him making this new tensioner work. Time will tell if its really a worthwile upgrade or if it becomes a MUST have for future 928 owners. Held in the same regard now that carrera chain tensioners are for all earlier 911 engines or those things that become must have additions as they are far superior to the riginal design.
I certianly applaude him for his work on that specifically. Lift bars i dont hold in the same esteem but I know those that have them love them and its just another thing to add to his resume of great 928 work.
To sum up....GREAT WORK KEN! I look forward to whatever ideas you start in 07.

Constantine and his incredibly engineered replacement clamp connecting drive shaft to flex plate has to be mentioned. I know the numbers aren't big but you can't measure the peace of mind knowing that plate is not pressing forward on the main journal bearing. One thrust bearing failure in a lifetime is enough.

The guys that take it upon there self to make a better mousetrap like Constantine and PorKen do so with little incentive for finacial gain.

It's all about power, isn't it?
Doesnt't this hunger for power just confirm to the world that the 928 is fat and lazy out of the box?
Just saying...

Nicole, not sure I read it right, but if what we're saying is that Porsche made many decisions that deviated from their usual model, then yes. I don't see why we would hide or deny this.

1 more vote for Porken. His latest effort, the EZ-F'er could possibly be a hard wire fix for the '85-'86 that does what a chip would do, while being reversible with the flip of a switch.
I have one reserved for me (I think, Ken?) and I would love to see if it shows up on a dyno.
I gotta say, for a group that I thought was leaning toward 'stock is better', there really are a lot of mods out there and a lot of people doing their own thing with theirs.
Here's to all who have put in the extra time and effort.

So by constantly saying we need superchargers, or turbos, aren't we telling the people that we, too, think the 928 is fat and lazy, and not acceptable in its stock form?

Hows that thing coming along anyway Ken?

Nicole - changing the perception of some on-lookers that think the 928 fat and lazy, will only happen if THEY drive and live with one. Otherwise it's bench-racing. We, as do many previously unsuspecting, know that they are in fact a very nice and fast high-end vehicle, even excluding age. Just the way it is.
Quest for more power, whether via NA tuning/tweaking or SC/Turbo adoption, is rarely a negative. Boostards have and will continue to provide the R&D needed to evolve, through understanding and improvements to base components and functionality. They are like a bi-product. Factory Racing efforts aren't just to spend excess $$ and advertise, they provide testing grounds for continual improvement of existing stock designs. Doesn't indicate the 928 is a handicapped car in stock form, but does indicate that it's potentially extremely fast and that the owners are pretty smart to find power improvements that don't hinder drivability...ever drive a souped up camaro turning 5k @ 60mph?
