For all those who feel that this is a foolish undetaking-- A cross-country journey in an classic or sports car is a treat, whether the trip goes seamlessly or there are some adventures along the way. Our 928 community is suct that I wouldn't hesitate to go jump in the car and point it across the country if I had the need. The support and advice from the group over the years has kept the car in reliable good shape, and the support from the same group along the way would make the journey almost as easy as jumping on a plane. Certainly more fun than flying though!
So drive sanely, don't forget your good sense, and have a ball on the way. Chances for trips like this are few and far between as the rest of 'life' crowds the schedule. Stop and visit if you get the chance.
Also--
If you happen to be driving through the El Paso/Las Cruces area late Thursday or early Friday, let me know. I'll be there in that part of NM for a business meeting, and should be done late Thursday. I plan to stay overnight and fly to SoCal in the morning from El Paso, but could cancel the return ticket and co-drive with you for a looong day to L.A. on Friday.

Should be heading out around noon tomorrow from Earl's place to start the actual drive home. Will try to check back in with everyone as I go. -Ed

Worked on the S4 again with Earl this morning. Balanced the tires, aligned the wheels, did some other stuff, but can't remember right now. Drove from Earl's near Philly down to Knoxville, TN.
Some pics from the last couple of days:
I'm having a great time.

ps: On the road.
On time.
On a roll.
On-believable.

One thing I'll always remember is playing dodge the tumbleweeds at around 100 mph on I-70 driving through Kansas on a very windy day when I drove my GT home from Colorado. Fun stuff when there's no one else around. Enjoy the trip and the memories..
