How much is it worth (1985 928 - RV)
I found a 1985 32 valve 928 with good paint and interior, but has a blown motor and some small front end damage, how much should I pay for this car?
Thanks so much in advance, Ive been waiting for years to get into 928s!!

If the engine is completly toast I woudl pay very little. My '85 5-speed had a broke T-belt (with unknown engine damage) when I bought it back in late 2000 and the final price was only $3500. This was 7 years ago, so the same car today whould be much much less. There are a lot of unknowns when buying a non running car. Thre is no way to test the transmission or anything else for that matter so the price has to reflect the gamble that a buyer is willing to take. I would not take a car like this today for more than $2000.
I have a complete spare engine for sale out of the '86.5 parts car!

I would NOT count on it ever seeing the road again, tho. As was said - too many variables unknown. (tranny, fuel delivery, CVs, steering rack, ELECTRONICS!!!!, etc...)

well I need to ship it across country, the car is in GA its for sale on ebay. If I can get it for 2 grand and get it shipped for another thousand it might be worth it, I am very familiar with 928s so I think I could handle a rebuild. A 32 valve is a pretty good engine though. I dunno Im not acting on this fast, just looking for some input.

One of the other Porsche dismantlers, German something auto something, something like that has a 87 928 with a blown motor listed in the newly arrived.
There is also a 87 about to sell cheap in Las Vegas, a mechanics lien sale, but I have zero details beyond that.

"The owner communicated that all other aspects of the car were in good working order with the transmission shifting well, air blowing cold and electrical operation and brakes and suspension all in proper order" ........sure
I have never seen these guys selling anything at a reasonable price. If I have to guess I would say the reserve is around $3000-4000.

If that car has a perfect interior & 8.5/10 paint, the difference between $1K & $2K could be easily made up by bringing an average 85 interior to the same state. On this kind of deal you really should inspect in person.

You will not find a more dishonest and shady company as GAD. Joe Cogbill has the scrupples of a Vegas crack 'Ho.
Oh, my bad... what I meant to say is I'd look for other cars.
