Everyone
Pretty much all I did is turn the corner...stop....left foot on the brake...sorta hard.....right foot hits the gas (maybe 1/2 throttle)....928 starts lurching forward......rpms hit 2K.....release brake and floor it....BWAAAAAHHH....lots of wheelspin....more than really would make a great drag launch......but damm was it fun.....my guess is 1200 to 1500 would be perfect for my car on that road.....

Is it hard on the tranny-rear end.....sure....but I didn't buy it to look at it....I bought it to DRIVE it....sure I'm a freak at keeping it clean, but getting it dirty is all the fun!! Worse case scenario is I blow the one legger and get an LSD!!

I need an S/C to really join the burnout club!!! Bill I'm gunning for ya!! :>)

It's always a little disconcerting when a guy who actually carries a gun, says he's gunning for you. It's a good thing we know he's a really just a teddy bear.

I'm totally crestfallen that I'm driving a car where tech assistance is required for a burnout...and all those pics of one narrow faint mark...

I got my car impounded when I was in high school for doing a burn out, and yes it was in a 928.

besides Brian, it's nice to know you can stripe one if you want, other than the little 2 foot "chirp" if you just mash it. Get out of it after about 5 feet and it'd be a cool posturing display if you're just looking to show-off like a little kid - make 'em wonder how far you could've gone... 123 feet !!

Personally, I don't feel I "know" a car until a burnout validation. In my advanced years, I usually wait until the basics are inspected (driveline, brakes, tires, mounts, etc.)........but sooner than later, bacon strips are part of new car ritual.

Silly 928 guys, two wheels is best

To much camber so the strips look thin, but those were 285's

*shifty eyes*

As we move to bigger tires and wheels on older cars, burnouts may be less common, but I think most well sorted 928's on stock tires had no problem lighting them up; auto or stick. I accidently spun my tires on the freeway yesterday while doing 15 or 20, swapping lanes, and trying to stay out of peoples way. That's with a completely stock 5 speed, PSD and 265 x 35 rear tires.

Other right on comment.....when I first put on my 265/40 18's I was amazed at the increase in accelerating traction.....far better than the no-name brand 245/45 16's I had before.....those were so bad I could barely move out into traffic while turning without melting a tire.......I did WAY better burnouts with those......if I got 123 feet with my new tires......I remember one burnout on the old ones that had to be 175 feet in comparison!!! Too bad I didn't measure it......BUT it was there weeks later!
