I'm talking about the (2) plastic caps/plugs on the rear of each head, for the '87- 'stubby' cams, which don't extend to the last journal, like the (superior
) '85-86 cams.
A one piece cap + journal plug could be made from aluminum? The plug would be drilled through and tapped for a large hose fitting.
The plug could extend out from the journal, towards the cams, so that any oil leakage from the journal would be less likely to be entrained in the 'air'.
I suppose only the higher plug would be useful, as the lower is bathed in oil?

The front journals are filled by the cams, aren't they?

The lower might be used as an additional oil drain (under acceleration)?

There's more room on the passenger's side, the driver's is bit tight.
The plug could be as simple as a steel/aluminum plate, with a piece of tubing through it (weld on outside), extending through the journal. On the outside of the plate, the tubing would go directly into a 90° elbow, and extend to an area where a hose could be attached easily.
The driver's side may have to be oval/squashed after the elbow for clearance.

This would only work on the S4 and not on the 85-86, iright? I'll be pulling the driver side head soon and woudl liek to re do the entire crank venting setup.

maybe you can put a turbo on the crankcase vent and give it more boost
