The BMW / Ferrari / Porsche get together in Rockville ws a blast

It was cold as hell, but a really good group of cars showed up. A number of fiine examples of the Shark were on display representing OBs, Euros, S4s and a GT. There was also a beautiful white 993 that made its presence known.

On the Bimmer front there were a number of 850s and an 840. There was a very special Twin Turbo 850 . All of the design and fabrication had been done by the owner over a two and a half year period. I'm sure some of the guys will want to speak up on how fast it was. Let's just say we ended the day going for very fast rides. Folks were lined up like the kids in the Porsche Cayenne commercial

The 850 crowd shares the same love / hate / obsession with their cars that we have with our cars.

Then there was the Ferrari Maranello 550? It deserves a line by itself

The SOUND of this car is absolutely amazing !!

Thanks to John Cho for letting us know about this one. It was a gorgeous cloudless day. A day made for some spirited "legal speed limit" driving. The Ferrari - with its 208mph top speed - and the twin turbo 850 didn't so much accelerate away from you... it was more like..... they are here, now they're not.

Here are some photos. The lighting was very harsh....sorry

John (twin turbo 850 owner) giving rides to everyone at the GTG

The car comes loose in the front and rear when the boost comes on...and that's when the car is actually dialed down in boost !!!

I wish I could have been there. It started raining just after I pulled in the driveway this morning. It looks like the weather up there today is pretty nasty so I guess I made the right call. I still wish I could have stayed. It looks and sounds like a good time was had by all.

Glad you made it home safely Mike. It was COLD Saturday morning - but I guess you know that being here. Hope the weather becomes a little more normal in GA so you can dirve your new acquisition.

Let's see if this works: The link below should take you to John in DC's thread reply about the GTG. At the bottom of his reply is a link to a video of the twin turbo's dyno run. http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums/e31/8214233-1.html

looks like everyone had a great time. boy had a b-ball game that day. my 928 is still down (new aero mirrors need tobe painted and mounted also interiais a mess from the body shop, needs to be shampooooed. my 993 had a run in with a herd of deer and windshield was still broken at the time of the gtg along with a big dent in the rear driver quarter panel. the window is fixed now and i will be taking her to the paintless dent remover shopto see what they can do hopefully she will be back on the road sooooonnnn and will be going over to johns house for a detail job.
