It is not all about speed.
The PO of my 88 put in a hell of a sound system including a 10 sub-woofer in spare tire well shrouded in particle board under a plywood read deck supported by pressure treated two by six supports (not on edge).
I blew the sub-woofer playing Michael W Smith, yup Christian music with plenty of low end … and I always thought the particle board and plywood was not right for a Porsche … so I made a foam cored composite rear deck and subwoofer enclosure some time ago. It is very light weight and otherwise quite functional but ugly.
I freed up the spare tire well so I can have a spare tire, call me old fashion.
That is when I go my hands on some black walnut veneer.
Now it is light, functional and looks better.
I have not done any engine upgrades or other interesting stuff but I thought this was something to put out there for 928ers to have a look.

MDF is my preferred base material, medium density fiberboard. If you use a plywood make sure its void free, or it can buzz.
That looks like its going to be pretty loud.

Given what I started with, a big stereo, plywood and carpet ... I could use the old piece of carpet on the deck as I have been for years or I could try this. I have the veneer. The woofer had to someplace ...
Some folks put wood bits all over there dash.
Beauty is more that skin deep. What you see is very light. The structure weighs about as much as that piece of carpet.

It "looks" like it would sound killer.
With the hatch closed and a luggage cover (guess it would have to be perforated to keep from slapping the headliner
) on it, whose going to see it?

Wonder how the dual sub box would look with it mounted sideways against the rear seatbacks? That way those esoteric oxygen free copper wires folks can't complain about the how the rear sub signal path has to go that much further than the front woofer.
Is the box currently sealed or running ported?
Had a 1 cubic foot ported with single 10" in my old car and that can give a nice boom.
Ernest (NYC) 10" DVC single in a leaky spare tire well enclosure.

It's a perfect fit for a 928. looks good and goes with the lines of the car. The best part was that I found it in nearly new condition at the local pawn shop around 7 years ago.
As for the OP, I would turn the box and see what that looks like. To each his own though.
