Roger, yeah, I know this is the REAL location for the truly afflicted, and have been a frequent lurker, but haven't had the time to do justice to it.
Anyway, when it comes for keeping a fine 928 from an evil demise, I'll MAKE the time
Best,
David

I have to say that if Dave says it's a good car and a bargain, we might want to check it out.
The dealer who paid 14K for my 89 5SPD sold it for 21.5 in less than a month. Funny thing is I now feel like the car has gone to a good home. One of you maybe should have a nice 5SPD before the dealer gets it ?
BTW, Dave is the guy who dynoed my car, smoked out the vaccume leak, set ride hight, aligned and generally sorted my 89. It came back washed, and ran well for the whole time I owned it.

Old thread I know, but I thought I'd post here that I've ended up with this car myself! Still in great shape - probably a couple owners between myself and Scott. I bought it from a great guy in TX who had something like 8 928s. He drove it out to me in CA and i've had it about a year. Love it. Looking for any old history.

The best year - I have to agree! Though, I'd love to have a few examples of different years I've done a bit of work on this one but not a ton. Learned a lot about the platform (thanks to a bunch of folks here). I'll post a "new guy" post in the main forum. The car has been a fantastic road tripper for me. I had the good fortune a year ago to be able to drive it (safely) at higher than recommended speeds up and down Hwy 1 in CA (Big Sur) while it was closed from the North and South, so almost nobody was on it. I drove in through Fort Hunter Liggett, which was the only access to that beautiful stretch of road. Anyway, I feel pretty lucky to have it, and thankful to the previous caretakers.

Yeah, you hit the double lotto, 89 S4 and a 5-SPEED, top of the heap(only bettered by 89GT)! Sure, I would like to have a few different years again(BTDT many times), but if I only had to pick one year, it would be an 89GT or an 89 5-Speed. I remember those days/nights out on endless ribbons of hilly, sweeping 2 lane nirvana....without another vehicle in sight, just an 89 5-Speed always feeling like it had the perfect gearing for smoothly and safely eating up the miles at triple digits, hypothetically speaking of course. :-)
Glad you are enjoying it, and yes you are lucky (double lucky, wink, wink), nice to see the great stewardship, kudos!
Happy Wednesday,
Dave
