Default to clean abs toothed ring....

I have the wheels off and know where the sensors are and plan to pull them and clean them off but to clean the toothed ring itself do you have to go through the sensor hole or is there some other way to get to it so I can clean it?

My ABS light goes on at 135 I assume it may be dirty also; if you find a way to clean it let me know!

One of the self service car wash places with the pressurized wands. I'd call it the $.25 car wash but that would be showing my age. Or a pressure washer if you have one available. The ring is exposed to the elements so you're not going to hurt anything. They get gunked up with the brake dust and will sometimes cause false signals.

I'm not seeing a good place to point the pressure washer....
I don't see the teeth except when I remove a sensor and look in the hole.

On the backside you should have access through the spindle.

Maybe we should all take some time and check our sensors, at 135 mph?

I just checked mine at 160 on the trip down to Marble Falls for our Third Coast gathering. No ABS light!

Hi I would suggest that you remove the speed sensors and try to use a small tooth brush i would not use very hi pressure water to rinse this out as you will introduce water into your wheel bearings and the wheel bearing seals i would try to use some sort of brake cleaner that evaporatesyou might try heating the brush with a lighter to bend it to fit your needs (cool it under running water) Use grease on the barrel of the speed sensors when you reinstall them to prevent rust

This ABS speed check should be part of the routine annual maintenance.
