I've got heated seats with the rheostat built in the switch and mine don't work either. Anyone had any luck trouble shooting this? Better yet, anyone have the PC board from a functioning unit that I could borrow to trouble shoot my own?

Unplug the heating elements themselves--they're the two-prong jobbies that (I think) have what looks like a mercedes symbol on the plug. The plugs are generally secured to a plastic plate that hooks onto the seat bottom springs. The wires can be traced and run into the seat cushion/seat back. You can check for continuity using a multi tester.

Hey Bill,
Thurston Pritchard, one of the local auto electric guru's had one of my seats in his lab for awhile. I bought a replacement switch to see if that would help with the trouble shooting, but it didn't make a difference, it's somewhere in the PC board from what little I understand. He said that if he had a functioning unit to probe he could figure out what the problem is with mine. Apparently its a common problem with the adjustable units. He did say he could convert it to the earlier on/off style without a problem (the elements work fine), but I'd really like to have the adjustability. Right now, mine don't work at all. I think he did get them to heat up by holding the switch in like what you mentioned, and putting in a new switch didn't help.

Adam, If Thurston finds the problem, could you post the result or contact me? I have a feeling it is a solid-state relay in the controller unit that is not latching electronically. Would be nice to know if my suspicions are correct.
