I did it on my '84. I used the same procedure and am happy with the results.

Dude, what the hell happened to the spray can? Leave alone with your pet Bengal tiger?

Is that electrical tape you used for masking?

The cans labeling is stuck to the cap when you buy it..you pry the cap off the paper comes with it. Half the time all the paper comes off!

I used electrical tape as it takes the curves on the lense really nice and seals well. I was out of blue painters tape.

Just making sure you weren't coming off a long layover or anything.

Between the torn label and the shadow on the bottom (that I thought it was a dent in the can), it looked like that rattle can had seen some hard times.

I'm heading out to the hobby shop right now to score me a can. It really is a great mod. Cleans up the look of the back end immensely.

This is a little OT, but another cool but easy rear tail light mod that I've seen is putting adhesive foam weather stripping (thin dense black foam) around the rear light fixtures where they meet the bumper cover. David Hendrickson did this because after he would wash his car and drive it around, invariably the water that was trapped around the lense would leak onto the rear bumper cover and leave drip stains. The weather stripping keeps the water out, and isn't really visible when viewed. I'll probably does this mod at the same time. I think he picked the stuff up at an RV store.

I did that mod too (the foam) and I can't find it in black. I'll try an RV store next time. Thanks.

I have hundreds of feet of that stuff in black. If you can't find it easily let me know and I'll pull a few feet off the roll for you. It's 1/8" thick by 1" wide. Cut it in half so you have two 1/2" wide strips to use for the two lenses. Drill some drain holes through the bumper shell inside the light well and you'll be dribble-free.

Looks nice Pfunde,

BTW, how in blazes did you do the job so quick that nothing changed in the reflections of your car?....except for maybe the cloud movement.

I have been experimenting with the older tail lenses and have an idea that I think will be the next trend for the OB's
