yesss so do i... i think i am going to do this to my new set of lenses.
anyway, i got my old set. there is nothing wrong with em apart from a bolt missing on the right side and a few hair cracks.
but the look will be great when you will paint them...
i will give 'em a way for a (my) membership fee plus s&h

I have been experimenting with the older tail lenses and have an idea that I think will be the next trend for the OB's

It's not before and after, they are both after, the second one is with the parking light on. When you hit the lights the yellow inside and red outside will make orange.

I painted my tail lights today. They came out better than I was really expecting. The only people that could really tell would by you guys since you know they don't come from the factory this color. With the testors 1605 the match is pretty dead on.
If anyone is curious, I didn't paint the entire light. I masked off everything but the orange turn signals and just painted those. I did wet sand ever so gently with 400 grit sandpaper first.
I over-sprayed twice and caused runs, but it was no big deal. Mineral spirits cleaned the mess up and I just tried again until I got it right. I'm glad I bought two cans of paint as I needed both to finish the job. I'm very happy with the results and I think the rear end of the car looks so much better. This is a mod I would recommend to everyone on this board.
A quick pic of the lens before I took off the back up light masking.

This may be a bit OT but our 89S4 has a bunch of small cracks in the rear lenses. Does this paint job help out with hiding the cracks? Besides getting the pricey Porsche replacements has anyone started making replacements lenses for the 928? I know Hooked On Cars has some replacement lenses already for the 928 but not the rear ones.

just painted mine as well. So now I will have to remove the masking tape for the clear reverse light. Should I cut around it with a razor so it does not lift the paint of around the masking tape?

Ie the light still passes through the yellow portion of the lense, even if you paint red over both sides. It will still taint the color when the bulb is lit.
