Default My new project car

My dad gave me a '78 930 back in the late 70's and I never built it and for some reason I decided that it will be my winter project this year. It's new in the box with all the parts still wrapped up. I'm thinking cobalt blue would look nice.

I was looking through the closet that contains stuff that is only looked at once every couple of years and noticed a Lotus F1 car, a few planes and a tank. I used to build models as a kid all the time and as with most things in life, you get tired of it and move on.

Funny how life can be a circle.

I built a 928 model back in the late 70's. That was when I got the 928 bug!

Why make them when you can buy them?

How much is that 930 worth to collectors?

It's a pretty fun winter project. I do about one model car a winter, usually AMT 60s cars pure stock. It's a fun way to test your manual dexterity. Sadly, I find that I don't get much closer to the picture on the cover of the box than I could when I was a kid.

Someday I'll build a little drive in theater to house the models I've built.

Sean,
Man, I was getting all excited thinking you had another addition to your stable, and was going to tell you about the 1961 MGA that I got when I was 13. Alas, you guys were talking about model cars.

For a real challenge, get one of those $500 ship model kits. You just get a box of sticks that you have to turn into something that looks absolutely astounding. I have done three of these for family members.

I still have the Tamiya 928 model i built like 20 yr's ago still sitting in front of my computer. A little worse for ware, but a nice reminder of how long i have loved this car. It's an OB just like mine to (minus the s4 wing mounted to high by juan95 deep in Mexico). Maybe i'll look for another and build it just like mine.

Sean, you build that thing. Let me know how it turns out. If you won't, I will.
