Default ATTN KNUCKLEHEADS: Get interior LEDs now!

Yeah, I'm an idiot, but my 928 is built to take it!

Last night, I pulled the kid out of the car and left the passenger side door open all night! I left the car at 10:30pm and didn't go back to it until 11:15am.

Thankfully, I replaced all of the interior courtesy lights with red, LED festoon bulbs. Although I only had time to shut the recalcitrant door this morning, the car fired up effortlessly when I got back to it at 10pm tonight.

Chalk one up to energy efficient LEDs!

A must-do mod, guys.

Chaad,

I second that! I did that the other night working on my car, only I've only replaced half of my lights with LED's, and hello dead battery.

Yep - one of my next mods on my own car....

I can get them in blue or white, usually keep the white ones in stock.

I bet the blue LEDs would be nice, although I went with red myself. The red is not the best to see by, but the tone is calm and warm; I found the white LEDs too sterile and harsh. Additional benefit of red: reduces the 928s targetabilty by enemy snipers!

I have a couple red small flashlights from my pilot days, no glare when reading maps etc. OTOH some lines disappear, but who needs all the lines?

BTW anybody do something cool like put the LED inside your door so the window glows (light pipe kinda thing)?

OT but...

Red lights are commonly used onboard boats for night navigation. It takes about 45 minutes for your vision to be fully effective once you are in darkness and about 30 seconds for your eyes to adjust back to daylight. The red light does not cause this return to daylight effect.

Works great at sea where you are not likely to encounter white lights however, unless you drive at night in isolated areas, the first oncoming vehicle will return your eyes to day vision.

Exactly. Red interior lights will help to some limited degree especially if you drive with little oncoming traffic.

Indeed, much as how Mr. Springsteen put it.

Personally do not like any light inside the car at night but thats perhaps a sign of old eyes!

Some people who drive Porsches are more sensitive to red lights than others.
