Found a link to the builder's thread on 914club, I know he posted the same pics here too but can't find the thread.

Holy shoot it's 19 pages long... that's what forums with big sigs do.

Classic hot-rodding: little car + big motor!

Last night I ran across a 914 chassis for sale ad locally, hmm..wonder if this thread is telling me something, like another 'sign'.

since you can get 210rwhp with a stock 84 911 3.2, i think that would be a better choice. (stock US 4.5 or 4.7 ?) very cool, but kind of silly.

Silliness is not the goal for such a project, Mark - the goal is INSANITY!

Here's what I would do:
1) Obtain one used all-out 914-based racecar, all suspension and aerodynamic mods not only done but well-sorted.
2) Obtain one used/rebuilt 4.7L US-spec 928 complete motor.
3) Obtain one large centrifugal supercharger, perhaps a Murph kit for the good bracket, plus intercooler, oil coolers, ducting, standalone engine management, etc.
4) You can guess the rest... oh and BTW Michigan's street-legal registration laws are pretty loose...

Is there a reason that you couldn't put an S4 engine in there?

Don't know - is there room for the wider heads and exhaust?

The head dimensions ARE different. The 4V heads stick out quite a few more inches on either side.

Based on the 2nd picture, it looks like there would be room on the passenger side - driver side looks like it might be tight.
