Default Suggestions - CV half shafts - Installation

1981 Porsche 928 with three speed automatic.

I have replaced the automatic transmission. I am looking for some suggestions on how to install the rear CV shafts from the transmission to the rear wheel area. I placed the axle shaft in the rear wheel housing. No problems. The CV joint at the automatic transmission does not mate up due the angle difference. I have a lot more movement in the wheel CV joint. The transmission is very limited movement. Only a few degrees of movement.

I do have the car in the air with jack stands. The wheels are not touching the ground. How do you guys install the CV haft shafts.

I have replaced the CV boots on the transmission side of the shaft. There is a ring indentation on the CV joint - transmssion side. (See image) Does this face toward the transmission or away?

Help please . . . .
