Hey All,
the old girl has new shoes
18s are new to me, so what would be a good starting point on how much air pressure to put in for street use. The tires are:
Front tires :Continental Sport Contact 2 235 40 ZR 18
Rear Tires: Continental Sport Contact 2 265 40 ZR 18
Right now, I have 38 psi in the back and 32 psi in front.
Thanks
Paul

Do you have 265/40 rears or is this a typo and should have been 265/35?

it is no typo, the back tires are indeed 265 40 ZR 18
Porsche does offer both the 40 and the 35
Those Conti come standard on the 997 apparently.

that is close to what I have now. I'm taking the car out for the fist time after new suspension (Ebach & Bilstein), new alignment, new 18" wheels and tires. So it basically, it drives like a new car

How about around 35 front and rear.
Used the Conti SportContact II for a while. Liked them.
Air temp varies so much lately it's hard to pin down an operational tire pressure.

Thanks guys,
since it's the first time I've had 18s, I didn't want to go and create a bad wear pattern the first time out.
At least, now I know I'm in the ball park.
I'm joining the Texas crew on the 3rd Coast gathering, plenty of picture opportunities
Thanks again for the help

Carrera III's.....that is the exact same combo I have on mine since June! Get the inlaid metal caps off ebay for about $100.....they look much nicer than the plastic ones and don't rub on the front dustcap! I run 36psi in front and about 39 in rear......so far so good with excellent grip and even treadwear!

Paul - tire ratings against 3700lbs starting weight with you/gas --> 31psi front, 26psi rear. If you periodically carry stuff, add a couple psi to the rear. Then when you get a chance, you can chalk test for contact patch and fine tune +/-.
Don't forget to re-familiarize yourself with the speedo-to-actual mph due to tire size change.
Sweet Wheel Choice !!
