Oh, Dave, it's defintely not worthless. I can see the inside. Just need to move things around to get a complete view.

Charley, I'd rather find it or rule it out visually before I try to rotate the motor 360. To tired after getting home late from work, so tomorrow.

awe heck...go on ,just try it and see if it would.

Thankfully your not a surgeon.
"forceps...uh did anyone get the forceps before we clsoed up?"

Id still turn it over by hand first Bill. Even then i would shoot a bit of air down into each plug hole to be sure what ever may be in there will fall to rest in the squish band. This way when you do turn it over by hand you are pretty much assure that if it stops...ya got a lot of work a head of you!
Its a horrible feeling, i know!

Those little magnetic pans to set parts in are

did you get the I/C figured out?

I've got 4 or 5 of those pans holding all kinds of little parts, but not that clip.

Yes, the IC is figured out. And I think a used Kawi EX250 radiator with fan is going to work well. Less than $50 on eBay.

I turned the engine and when the valves were fully opened I snaked a magnet down into the cylinders and came up with nothing, so I finished putting things back together.

The car started and ran perfectly, but...I smelled gas. There was a flood under one of the rails near one of the injectors. So, I figured seals, as they were original. I had a seal set, so I did all the seals. The old seals still looked good. Anyway, put it back together, fired her up... same flood near the same injector.

The injector body is leaking. Haven't seen that before. So, before I can smog the car, I need to track down a spare 19lb injector.

Oh, well, at least the lost clip didn't amount to anything.

Later on....I took the injector out. I can rotate the tip in the body. None of the other injectors do that. That's where it is leaking, right above the seal. Dang. Where am I going to get ONE injector?

Bill - if you need a short term loan of one let me know. I'm not running the S4 until l figure out the straining pump sound. That's assuming the stock S4 injector is what you're using.

Thanks, Charley. I remembered that 928 Intl sells single used injectors. If DEVEK doesn't have one available on my way to work Monday, I'll just order one from the boys down south and they'll have it here by Tuesday or Wednesday.

So the clip made a successful escape... At least it didn't get eaten by the motor. That's strange for an injector body to leak. Hopefully it's a fluke and the others continue to behave...

A busted injector tip???? Thats really odd? But 170k miles on an injector is alot (or 135K on the 19lb)....

How about a minus S/C driving impression? The car has to feel horribly slow....probably perfectly normal to most of us...but dreadfully slow to you.....don't worry...you will be back doing insane burnouts again real soon!!

The body of the injector is solid. The tip that I can rotate is the printle which protrudes from the bottom of the injector body. It is a separate piece. Not sure how it is retained and sealed inside the body. I'd take it apart is I knew how. Click on the printle area in the link below.

No chance to drive it until I repalce the bad injector. The leak is rather brisk.
