Anyone have a good used one that works on my model?

When I put the wiper stalk in the down (variable delay) position, the wipers cannot be switched off until I turn the ignition key off.

What makes you so sure it's the relay?

Don't the wipers stop when they get a signal from the motor that they are in the rest position?

Must be an easy way to troubleshoot the wiring without buying or replacing parts?

'Cause the wipers work and turn off fine in every other position except when I engage he delay position.

If the relay sees the "potentiometer" setting as "open circuit", does that cause a infinitely long delay?

You might try pulling the relay and check the potentiometer signal with an ohm meter. If you detect an open circuit potentiometer, it still may be the stalk switch and not the potentiometer.

Nice. I know Alan had mentioned that to me before, but I wasn't sure if it would work on my model.

So did you go back into the Owner's Manual and re-write that section on wiper delay function?

Any suggested internet source for that relay?

Randy - yes it will work direct plug in. The contacts in the intermittent relay actualy do the parking function - only the low power switch is on the motor.

If the potentiometer is disconnected you do not get infinite delay... so sounds like its busted.

In my opinion even when its working its pretty crappy - not worthy of the car.... get the VW instead - you'll thank me...!

It looks like the relay is 993 615 101 00 which was the superceded version of the 928 615 101 01. I have an early relay that I will give you NC but I do not have the later number.

I can't suggest a source... I went local. try the part number in some searches and you're bound to come up with something. First one I found in the US was parts4vws.com when I punched 3b0955531 into google.

Haven't modified the manual. Nobody ever does

So you think that if the potentiometer was disconnected, it wouldn't result in the non-function I'm seeing? I had the pod opened several months ago for maintenance and wonder if perhaps the wires to that set wheel were disconnected.

The programmable VW one is $29.00 (3BO 955 531)
The Porsche one is $40.00 (993 615 101 00)

Same thing happened to me after removing the pod. Check the wire to the pot, cheap fix, needless to say.
