E-bay auction (Chris Lockhart's 928? - RV)

The relist doesn't have a question in the ad asking about a salvage title, yet.
Seems like some sellers know how to keep a question from showing up in the auction, but I don't know how that works.

I was expecting zero bids based on the poor job he did of presenting the car. Somebody should offer him what he paid for the car and not a dime more.
Starting the bidding this high is death for an auction unless the car is exceptional. No wing, mixed wheels, not cleaned up. If he wants to get a good price for the car, he should start the bidding at $1, but he really needs to put the wing back on and fix the wheel situation.

If you found a perfect 928 for sale, well under blue book and you found out some terrible situation leading up to the sale. Would you buy the car for the asking price or give the guy a few extra thousand dollars?
Fact is he setup a poor auction with too high of an opening price.

He may get it right the 3rd time.

Interesting, I was on eba and this is on my watch item list, and the title of the ad says "will not be relisted"
Its nice someone offered this guy $5500 to use as a track car.
This guy didnt even clean the damn thing, let alone make any attempt to put it right.

If you go to an auction don't be surprised if it makes you a bidder person.
Auctions are the boot heel of the free market system, but even in this den of thieves there is some honor, and there is nothing wrong with giving a hard eye at anybody who would bid to take away someone else's possessions just to make a profit. Part of the auction art is screwing the other guy, knowing about what they will bid on an item and making sure they never get an item they want at a low bid. Nothing wrong with keeping a list of people that deserve such treatment. Talk to any true auction junky and it isn't the greatest deal they like to talk about, it the load of junk they got some competitor to pay top dollar for.
***** This should not have happened, and should never happen again. Let the list know and half a dozen better options than the current situation are likely to happen. At worst someone on the list would have the car and have paid a fair price.

BTW, here is my write-up when I was trying to sell it:
The item you are bidding on is a 1989 Porsche 928 GT. The ’89 model is very rare, with less than 75 examples sold in the U.S. The ’89 GT came with a 326hp 5.0 liter engine, 5 speed manual trans, and a limited slip rear end. This particular example is pretty healthy at 296 RWHP on a Dynojet 248c last May. The car has 143,XXX miles on the odo. She is Guards Red with cashmere interior.
Here is a list of modifications/additions:
Custom 4” cowl induction hood.(stock hood to go with the car also)
928 SP Carbon fiber rear wing with custom fabbed wing mounts and end plates.
928 SP Carbon fiber strut brace.
Bilstein shocks w/ Eibach lowering springs.
Front/rear swaybar “steroid” links.
Poly front swaybar bushings.
Zimmerman cast hole brake rotors w/ Hawke HP+ brake pads.
Yellow painted calipers w/ red “Porsche” lettering.
18” AT Riva wheels/w Porsche Crest centercaps
Rising rate adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
Nology Hotwires.
Airpump delete.
MSDS headers.
Dr. Gas 3” X pipe.
Spintech mufflers w/ pro dump downturns at the rear axle.
ARM 1 air/fuel ratio meter.
Billet aluminum interior door handles and shift pattern insert.
Red door panel inserts, and tunnel panels.
Red/black neoprene seat covers.
Red/black MOMO steering wheel.
Porsche Crest horn button.
Black w/red 928 GT lettering carpet set. (2 front, 2 rear, and luggage area)
Fire extinguisher w/ Porsche Crest.
Rear seat delete.
Custom amp rack .
Sony head unit with Sony 6 disc changer.
Rockford Fosgate Amps.
8 Rockford Fosgate speakers, 2 Polk Audio speakers, and 1 JBL 10” sub.
I have done 99% of the work on this car myself, and have kept a pretty accurate log on all maintenance. She runs/drives great, and has been my daily driver for 6 years.
Known problems:
1) Relay in A/C control head shot.
2) I was hit in the left rear quarter a year ago, and I have still not had it professionally repaired/repainted. I have worked the dent out as best as my skills allow. The left rear wheel was bent in the accident, and I have a Cup 2 wheel in it’s place.
3) A Sticky idle air valve. (idle will sometimes be high or low)

Was this rubbish lifted from a Sotherby's or Christy's catalogue?

I buy houses at Auction and then re-sell for more $$ than purchased. I do not offer to sell back to PO for price I purchased. I am not a bank, and I am not social services, does that make me a crook too? This thread is a very interesting read for a social scientist, or a Soap opera fan. ???
