That’s what we thought with my brother’s ’83 and yet it didn’t help. We were afraid of boiling the wheel bearing and ruining the dust seals. So we didn’t heat it to red hot but it was plenty warm and it should have come off. He’s 928 spent all its life in Canada and most of the PO drive during the winter must have added to the excessive corrosion around the hub. Out only choice was to carefully cut the rotor in 2 adjacent locations around the hub. I guess we could have used an angle grinder with a cutting disk to achieve the same results but regardless it had to be cut.

We were also concerned of damaging the wheels bearings and didn’t hit the rotors too hard. I guess they can withstand a sledge hammer blow so next time I’ll use a little more force.

Aluminum expands faster than cast iron.
