Default McMaster Carr a good resource for DIYS shark owners

I don't think I have ever seen McMaster Carr mentioned here. Where I work their catalog is our bible for hardware, raw materials, and various other things.
I ordered some screen to make speaker grills. Going to Home Depot, and Michaels was a waste of time. The screen they had was too flimsy. Just wanted to pass along a good resource.

I second that! There is a McMastercarr warehouse close to me so I can just place my order and have it on my doorstep next day or pick it up myself! Really a great resource!

Grainger is OK, but their pricing is over-the-top horrible.

McMaster has a boatload of stuff that Grainger doesn't, and I've found the pricing far lower on better quality, item to item.

I haven't used MSCDirect enough to form an opinion yet.

YMMV

I agree, got a 17mm die and shipping out of LA is a two day affair. I can't even get Loctite 574 at the local Grainger joint.

Fastenal is a good source too.

Grainger will not sell to individiuals... only businesses...

I have a McMaster Carr Cataloq and they do have a lot of stuff... but have not actually ordered from them... dso they sell but credit card to individuals?

I have also used Advanced Industrial Technologies... they have a few offices in the Bay Area... and tehy sell to regular people...

Yes, McMaster-Carr will sell to anyone. No minimums either.

You can use:
http://www.mcmaster.com/
it's easier to type/remember than the full name.

The one thing I don't like about their website is you can't make a link to any of their products or pages for posting here. At least I haven't figured out how to. If someone has, please let me know.

I've bought different kinds of tubing from McMaster-Carr. A good source.

Right-click on a blank section of the page, select 'Properties', select and copy the address up to to the 'CtlgPgNbr=####' from the 'Address: (URL)' field.

Example: http:// www.mcmaster.com/ctlg/DisplCtlgPage.asp?ReqTyp=CATALOG&CtlgPgNbr=2162

If you really want something from Graingers, ask around. Somebody you know is bound to have an account with them. For example, I have an account with them... I just picked up a gas valve for my furnace for $95... cheapest price I found anywhere else was $167. The other resources mentioned above are great too. I bought the unobtanium/stainless alloy metric thumbscrews for my battery box from MSC, for example:

These places sure use alot of unobtanium for their products. Is unobtanium a commodity on the stock market?
