I am thinking that even with the size of tire that Anderson runs on his car, (I think his car looks so good with those huge rims and tires on it) with 7.0 + ?PSI, all it is going to take is a good look at the throttle to make them go up in smoke.

Before I got a Porsche, I really did not think that there were many real gearheads in the Porsche community, damn was i ever wrong.

7.0 Liters and a blower with some kind of sequential stand alone injection and a good COP ignition setup, with maybe a Gearvendors setup you could have all of the power and speed you could ever use plus it could get fantastic mileage.

I cannot speak for The Rest of the Porsche Community (ahem... 911s) that can get their go-fast parts (or factory-built racers) from Porsche Motorsports or the 944 folks. The 911/944/Boxster folks have so many cars out there that many vendors can make a business of go-fast parts for them. So, they have a lot of variety.

On the other hand us 928 folks have only a few vendors of go-fast parts. Certainly, now we have several and in some cases can even choose between two parts for the same applications. WOW! Seriously. 10 years ago an RMB was about the only bolt-on go-fast part available while the rest of the P-car folks could get damn near anything they wanted mailed to their doorsteps. (Sure 10 years ago you could have had Mark's motor builder or Devek build you a 6+ liter stroker but that ain't bolt on.)

In the last 10 years a lot of folks have pushed the limits on their personal projects and a few folks have generated some product-quality parts. But, all of them have done so pretty-much from whole-cloth engineering things a few steps at a time. The 928 folks pretty much have to do it on their own and for their own enjoyment because their just isn't a big enough market for a balance sheet. I'm constantly impressed by the 'one guy in a garage' that puts great stuff together.

But, yeah, there are some serious gearheads here and Kudos to them!!!

with maybe a Gearvendors setup you could have all of the power and speed you could ever use plus it could get fantastic mileage.
I haven't seen evidence of anyone tackling the transaxle yet. I could be wrong though. A number of folks have built some serious motors but they're real careful with the tranny. Mark A runs GTS boxes and rumour has it keeps them all to himself

Completely boring away the whole stock cylinder and replacing it with a sleeve is the way to go, the initially strong sounding idea of being "punched out to the water jacket" is actually practical and commonly done nowadays . Darton is a big supplier of sleeves, they have alot of stocked sizes including stepped ones and are actually working on a 928 specific sleeve now that should be available off the shelf in the near future. If you are serious about wanting to do that let me know and I may be able to provide dimensions, I have a block next to me and am taking measurements for the sleeves right now.

Thanks, I have a spare engine. I'll be watching this thread. The Alien would really benifit from more Cubic Inches! I would just run 10:1 pistons, euro heads, and tweek the CIS. I don't have room for a blower. The left cam gear is in my back now.

I used to drag race a 66 Chevelle with a 427 ci. Big Block Chevy motor.
A 427 ci PORSCHE motor would be outragous!

BTW: is this just a bore change or are you changing the stroke, rods, or either or...?

Todd's daily driver has a gear vendor unit installed - that is not the only modification to the drive shaft combination. The transmission is stock - with over 150,000 miles on it. These Mercedes transmissions are nothing short of awesome - then you can always upgrade to the AMG package to make it even stronger (something Todd has not yet pulled the trigger on).

I've been gone all day, so no time to post anymore pictures. Custom crank, rods, and pistons for this engine. Stroke is 94mm.

What is being done to the heads? I can't imagine the valve and port sizing of an engine originally designed as a 5 liter will flow well enough to support big numbers on a 7 liter engine.
