Thumbs down I AM NOT READY!!

I am not ready

Not ready to wrap up another season of 928 driving

Not ready to let go of 928 events and get togethers until next year

Not ready to roll the car windows up, even.

I'm not even close to ready to sock the car away in a storage warehouse far away from me

Nor am I ready to stop washing and waxing her

I hate the crack that's forming on the dash, just now about to start its descent down the face of the dash, but I am not ready to give up hating that, either.

Ready to give up the BWAAAAH? Nope

Ready to give up the parking lot compliments from others? Nope

Ready to give up the low slung, stretched out driving posture? No way.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm not ready to give up my car to Winter, to give up on the feel of a Porsche 928 for what? Five, six months? Hell no!

I hate it. You temperate climate people....so lucky. I love the seasonal changes, but I do not love my Saab like I do my shark!

(this diatribe has been brought to you by an 11 hour day at work and a bottle of '05 Fairview Viognier from S. Africa, which is, btw, very yummy)

Come to California. It was terrible here yesterday. It rained for a few hours I even used the heater. Sometime during the next few months, some snow will appear for a few hours or maybe a couple of days on the mountains surrounding this valley. There will maybe even be a couple of days of temps hovering around ......30 degrees. Awful. Then it will turn warm again. The trees will get leaves and fruit again. And the sunroof will be open at night again.

I've lived in NY (18 years), PA (4 years), Houston (11 years), and I spent a year in Ann Arbor doing a post-doc at UMich. While I really liked being in Ann Arbor, I've been in SoCal for 4 years now, and I've gotta agree with Ron. Come to California. Oh sure, it'll drop all the way down to 38o between 1 and 2 AM in December for a few days, so the Leatherique treatments will have to wait for spring. but the weather's even better in the winter than in the summer. No breaking a sweat while wrenching. An El Nino's coming this winter, so it might rain for a week or two.....

There's a reason real estate is damned expensive here: It's worth it.

Uh, in California, the 928 is my BAD WEATHER WINTER vehicle. All other times, I'm on one of my motorcycles. Sorry to rub it in.

Wow... having to lock the shark up for the winter... what a bummer. Yes, California is the place to be... If you come out here, you'll be glad you did when everything east of California falls off into the Atlantic...

the 928 is my BAD WEATHER WINTER vehicle. All the sunny days, I'm in my Mustang convertible (I would prefer a 928 convertible but they are as rare as rocking horse sh*t)

Yoko snow tires & also I have chains for the real bad days; never had to use my chains yet.

I'd say think twice about coming to California.

We just got a first glance at winter. We had half a day of rain and I had to turn the heater on at night. This type of winter weather will become more regular from November to March. It's really depressing!!!

I need a winter residence in Arizona...

Fort Lauderdale: I wake up and put on a pair of old shorts, pull the car into the driveway, and wash it up. People wave and say hi as they ride past on their bikes, some even stop to talk for a few minutes. I'm usually not wearing any shoes.

In January.

[sorry]

N!

This year I am going to drive my 928 until I see snow (or really bad sleet). If there is a break in the white crap, I'll pull her back out. I agree, winter storage sucks big time, so this year I'm giong to try and drive my car year round, on nice days.

Hey now...

Actually I was just telling the wife last night that I'm leaning toward storing the car with guys and leaving it in your stewardship, but I may have to re-think that now. Well, certainly no decisions until I get the from the boss.

Like Chuck said, come to Texas, you won't be ready to give up your air conditioner. Ever.
