I'd buy a kit (esp. a braided one) in a second! I've got an '87 S4 and it suffers from the same problem as seen here. I'll need to get on that - quick.

I just put a new front hose on my now 13k mile 928S: just in case.

I'll have a -6AN kit for all fuel lines in the engine compartment (for 32v cars at least) that may/may not necessitate a FPR/rear damper change. No clamps so far! This kit comes with the turbo kit: maybe Abby can share some photos in a week or so.

Wish I had know about the AN kit.

This is how Rob set up fuel lines, I'm not using fuel dampners.
The fuel system under the engine bay retains nothing stock. I machined a steel block to accept the stock flair-style fitting coming off of the stock fuel feed line from the gas tank (I did not want to cut this line). The feed line goes to a -6 push-lock line (push lock is rated to 250psi) into a magna-fuel -6x-6x-6 Y-block. The block Y's to both of the fuel rails with -6 line. The fuel rails are custom built from http://www.behindbarsracecars.com/. They are 17" long, the end ports are 3/8" NPT fittings and the injectors are 4.82" center to center and the injector holes are .530". The injector holes are centered in the 17" rail. We had to weld mounting taps to the fuel rails as well as the bracket we made for the throttle cable. The rails go into a Aeromotive A1000 2 port fuel regulator (30-100psi unit) then out to the stock return line. None of the stock hard lines had to be modified in any way, we adapted everything to them. This regulator rises on a 1:1 ratio with boost (as most do).

I bought 20 feet of -8 line and a whole bunchy of Bat engineering conversion pieces for the fuel line, and some AN hardware. I should be able to do it all from the firewall. The 86 really needs it.

These fuel lines are more robust than they look. I've cut one apart last year when I was building the SC system and they have a solid walled inner plastic tube inside the rubber lining. They are much stronger than the regular FI lines that most cars have. I'n not saying that those lines didn't need replacing, but they were probably far from failing.

Anyone that kept their old lines should cut oneup and see it themselfves.

Unfortunately for the S4/GT/GTS cars, you need to cut them apart to see how brittle they may be. Miles and climate rather than age may be the limiting useful life factor.

If you had sagging/deflated motor mounts and didn't replace the fuel supply hose, then you may have overlooked a potential engine bay fire problem.

Guys my fuel line at the front has a little shrink wrapped padding under the oil filler. My mechanic installed it - not sure if its a stock part or if he fabricated it specially (I suspect so...) Not a bad idea at all...

That hose can be routed without any interference.

I don't think it's a good idea to have anything pushing up on the plastic filler neck or pushing down on the fuel line.

Actually this padded section hardly touches it ... it seems others must have shorter hose segments there - given the interference that obviously has happened...

I'll ask Dan why he installed this and where he got it (or how he made it) - but I'd bet he's seen a lot of others that interfere else he wouldn't have done it. Didn't used to be like this but its been on for probably 2 years now.
