2 to 3 points rear seat belt?
When was the three points rear belt introduced in the production of the 928?
For the models delivered in France, this was for the 90 MY but was it earlier for the US models?
I ask this because I know someone who would like to put three points belts instead of two points at the back of his '81 Euro S. I was wondering if such a old chassis has the third point or not.
Thanks in advance.

As usual, sorry for my bad English and I hope you will understand me
PS for Marton: By the way, this is a Jubile.

I have been chasing that issue for a while. Here in California I have to get a Captain of the CHiPs to allow the addition. There are some tabs one can make which attach to the body just over the rear seat shoulder, but I have not taken the back of my '81 appart yet to look.

My '87 was fitted with 2 point belts, but the provisions for mounting 3 points are in the body already...
I guess remove the rear quarter trim or just pull down part of the trim above the glass and have a look to see if the fixation is there or not.

88 was the first year with standard 3-point belts in the back of US models. They still have the roller where the two points had them, so it's a bit awkward to use them.
I don't know when they were introduced in Europe and ROW.

BTDT, you can add s4 3p roll-up belts if you fab a small mounting bracket, since the mounting holes do not align. (Maybe I should try to motivate Carl F to make that bracket....) Otherwise you have to get non-rewinding belts. I did, works great, my 7 year old daughter fits perfectly back there, and I use a booster seat for my 4 year old son.
The non-rewinding belts are of course fully adjustable, so it is almost as convenient as the rewinding ones.
And yes, the 3rd mounting hole will be there, it is in the C pillar, about 20cm up, you should be able to feel it without ripping anything out.

yes, same thing with the 2p. The diameter on the 3p rollers is bigger, since there is more belt to wind up, but there is still enough room for them.
uhhh, I did'n quite catch your point, Nicole... do yo mean "usually are" on 928's or on normal cars?

I was told by a reputable safety belt/seat shop that although the 3rd point hole is under the c-pillar trim (on my 89 anyway) it does NOT have the strengthening for a mount and shouldn't be used. I believe this is supported by either a Porsche bulletin or somewhere in the manuals, but don't have the reference to hand.
This is on my ROW RHD '89 S4, so YMMV as always.
