Default How do I know which OIL FILTER to use

I bought a MAHLE 041-8138, also says OC 46 on box, for my 86 928. To tell you the truth I'm not sure its even the right one. Now I would like to install on my 87 S4 I just got, can I use it?

Mahle OC-46 is fine, direct replacement for the 928.107.201.05.

Mahle is OEM - Porsche doesn't make oil filters.

ALL 928s use the same oil filter, from 1978 - 1995

Hi,
GregZ - as Susan said. And the filter is the correct one too

Mahle is approaching 100 years in business and has a unique place in the German Automotive Industry
I am sure Dr Ferdinand Porsche knew them well and worked closely with them in the 1930s when contract working with DB in Stuttgart

Mahle has a great reputation as a supplier to and as a research facility to Porsche AG

It is wise to only use the prescribed MANN, Mahle and Knecht filters (also sold as Genuine parts) on 928 engines due to the high by-pass pressure in the lubrication system and the structure of the internals (filtration media and differential by pass etc)

BerNard94 - it is wise to back up your comments by facts as they could cause new owners some strife. In this case they were very wrong indeed!

Regards

Thank-you everyone thats what I needed to know.
as far as BerNard94, I thought it was odd that he had been on the forum for a couple of years but only had 2 post! Also it looks like a moderator completly removed his post.
