Default ! flashes along with red warning on oil pressure guage!!

At idle the oil pressure guage reads 1.5.
Then the warning flashes along with the red light on the low end of the oil pressure guage.
I cannot cancel it.
When I add a little throttle it goes off.
What's up?

Got enough oil? Maybe its a simple thing like that?
The big warning light problems cant be turned off by hitting the button anyway

Mike.. what brand and type/weight oil are you using ??

Is it up to temp when you see these symptoms ?

G'luck.

Hi macreel.
Been awhile.
I use 20- 50 weight. Castrol.
I've always used this brand without problems.

Hi Mike,

Is your idle at spec ?

My idiot light comes on when dash gage pressure is under 1 bar.
I've no idea what the variance might be.

G'luck

Since my car was given a new waterpump and after the fire, it has been idling at 750.
The norm was about 675.

Mike, was your engine up to operating temp? This happened to me a week ago, was warm outside. I stopped car to check into hotel. Came out restarted and ! was lit, oil pressure real low. Scarred the crap out of me. You probably need to chenge the oil thermostat. I bought the kit from 928 Spec, works fine now. Search on low oil pressure here, wil lead to others who had the same problem, replacing the springs fixed it up.

Vehicle was at operating temp. for at least a half an hour.

Oil pressure sending unit was just replaced.

.... does sound like the oil thermostat bypass deal .... some good write-ups in the archives: the spring kit is a quick and effective fix.
