I built your shark?

Judging by the feel, I'd say they are supposed to center between 2-3, but they break. Mine feels correct. John's doesn't. I could be wrong and somebody just found a way to improve my car over stock, but with how much care went into my car before I got it... I'm amazed the tranny works and has LSD.

BTW, I think I'm going to Scott's this weekend, so I'll take a survey of the various years.

Hey Tim - Welcome home! Thanks for doing what you do and keeping the rest of us safe and sound over here.

The shifter in this car has been in the 4-5 plane since I've had it. When I disassembled it to replace the synchros I made sure all the springs were in place because I too wondered why it was in the 4-5 plane. I simply reassembeled it to its prior configuration. I just checked the WSM (section 34-18) and there is a step where you rotate the input selector shaft 180 degrees with special too 9155 before pinning the shifter fork to the input selector shaft. I don't recall doing that step (I didn't have the WSM at that time), maybe that will put the shifter in the 2-3 plane?

By the way the car looks awesome!!!! I was trying for years to get a set of factory cup wheels for that car but always fell short of money on e-bay. Are they factory cups or MM knockoffs? Those wheels will show off those calipers nicely!

Hey again Paul...

the wheels are knockoffs... but, still rather nice. the only downside is now I have to clean the calipers every other day I drive her. when I have a little extra cash, I will touch up the paint, and get rid of the little rust in the rear... I will take some more pictures today and tomorrow while its nice, and show you the clear turn sigs, and the whole package.

as far as the shifter goes, if someone comes and tells me for sure that it is in the wrong position, I will correct it... if not, I will leave it as is. it just takes some getting used to. maybe there is someone here that drove an early euro S right off the showroom floor that could tell us?
