That is a really unique looking 928 - in a good way...
I think the body mods and wheel choice are tastefully done and actually work with its existing lines.
It does work in a lot of ways.. not sure why they eliminated the traditional headlight back covers that would have worked well with all the new roundness on the body. I think non-metallic colors would work better too... whenever you have a direction change in the plane of a panel right at a panel seam you get the "mismatched panel paint" look like at the door and rear quarter.
I don't think they did a great job with the lower rocker character lines. When something like that is added, for it to have some symmetry and look good, it needs to be a continuous line from the front bumper, through the wheel space, tied into the rocker panel, through the wheel space, and then tied into the rear bumper as well. The one on the front bumper angles downward and disappears, then you have the side moulding, then nothing tying that together at the rear bumper.
For comparison, look at how RUF integrates their front and rear bumper character lines into the rocker panels on the car to have flow from the front of the car to the rear of the car. Follow the start of the line at the front bumper all the way down the side and into the rear.
New clamps matching the theme.
You can see how badly etched I let them get...It has been a huge chore to bring them back...cleaned up the hood a little too I have the old zinc plated ones...they are in rough shape but if someone needs some I have some extras New small clamps...still need to do the big ones... Whoo the underside of that hood was gross! The part of the plenum resting against and under the intake tube(s) was badly marked up and had begun to corrode...Mothers Magnesium polish is the best...I tried about 4 other things.....wound up using one of those cone shaped sponge things on the end of a drill to get wheels with and a ton of elbow grease...you can see how gross it got on the runner up against the airbox...
First post on this forum. Picked up an 85 A/T that had been sitting in a field in Alabama for several years as a project car (a barn find would have been in better shape!). The previous owner did some work like timing belt, tensioner and water pump and recovered the front seats. Since I got the car in June, I have checked the crankshaft free play, cleaned all the grounds and replaced the torn CV boots. The car seems to be in reasonable shape now to drive while I am working on it. I have a list of things to do including all the interior and full repaint at some point. I toook the car on the Blue Ridge Parkway on Monday for the first time and it was really a pleasure! Here’s a few pics.
