I would guess that this car is older than W10, because W10 was completed in January 1977 so the picture was certainly taken before that, for beeing published in the Auto-Journal the 1st of February.

I estimate this is W10(ish) but the January 77 date is likely incorrect. If one applies W numbers to the "pilot series" cars the W numbers reach the 20s. Why would they be building 10(ish) more prototypes right before 12 press cars? This is hard to nail down because there are so many inconsistencies of pictures/ license plates/ dates appearing in magazines when compared to the information in Project 928. It's a fun puzzle!

This car is W6 according to Project 928, and I would say that the Brown one, from the registration, was registered after her.
W6= BB-NH 686
W7= BB- NJ 844?
W8= BB-NM 284?
W9= BB-NM 285?
W10=BB-NM 286?
W11 was an automatic car, if that helps.
