Jim-
That was (of course) GB's idea, he didn't like the idea of hooking up the axles to a dry transmission, and you need to have the axle nuts on there to keep the bearings squeezed with the car on the ground, so he cut up an old dead set of axles.

Adrienne (my wife) and I spent the weekend at the 14th Annual Boxstoberfest in Fredericksburg, TX. We had 211 attendees and all kinds of Porsches; from a couple of 356 to a "track ready" 996 Twin Turbo. Even had a Ferrari and a couple of BMW Z8s.
Here we are side by side. Adrienne was the only 928. My 79 911 SC Euro racked up 1270 km during the event. We'll be back next year, come join us! It's always that F/S/S weekend around September 10. Check out www.boxstoberfest.com for more details.

I gave her a wash yestreday so had to get a couple of nice angles on my gleaming beast, the GTS!

Brutal.
Here is a CO adjustment tool I picked up off of evilbay to reach the CO adjustment. Not sure it will work on the S3 motor, but will give her a try after I get me some Porken chips. Tool is 15" long and has a ball hex tip for Bosch CIS adjustment.
