I found this little piece of paper under the carpet in the GT. Maybe it's not from Zuffenhausen but it was far enough under there to make me think it might have been there since the carpet was put in. It's about the size of a postage stamp. Any ideas?

Here is a little tidbit that Peter Schutz revealed to me...
They were seriously considering altering (raising) the 928 front fenders to make them a bit more 911-like, but the tooling cost was so high, they could not justify this change given the low production numbers of the car.
He kept saying: "If you can't sell a car used, you can't sell it new, either." And he explained that the enthusiasts just didin't catch-on to the 928 - at least not at the time - and potential buyers were afraid of the 928s low resale value.
Oh well, it's not like there is a major problem with the 928 fenders, is there?
Pictures:
1. 928-4 in front of Ferry Porsche's Villa in Stuttgart
2. Note how the headlights have changed in this later picture
3. Another view of the front fender
4. In front of the stairs to Schloss Solitude, the summer residence of Duke Ludwig, which offer a spectacular view on his castle in Ludwigsburg, just outside of Stuttgart

And since we are talking about 4-Seater 928s, here is the ASC conversion that is owned by the factory, and now on display in the new Porsche Museum. The audio tour explained that they only made two, and after extensive testing they found the 928 body not rigid enough for a 4-door version.

I think the last picture is the best but it's still not right IMO. The lines of the 928 is not suitable or a saloon/sedan. I think I saw a thread/topic regarding the 928 pick up conversion- Looks better!

In answer to my mystery item question >
It was a piston from a hydraulic headlight adjustment system. (OB Euro Spec only).
The hydraulic headlight adjustment systems all failed after a few years.
