I do this when I take it apart, lay it out in order, photo, bag n tag everything, then lay it all back out with the new parts, and photo, and put it all back together with the new pieces, photo, and then re-assemble. Just to make sure I've got everything!

Engine assembly with Greg is like being a scrub nurse- you gotta have the next tool in hand, ready to go. As bad as my OCD is, I have all the hardware bagged and tagged for each piece but even then there are times when you just have to hold out a handful of hardware and he'll pick out the correct bolt, check the head markings, shoot some HHS on it, and assemble.

A free 28 point inspection until the 28th. Why not?
Result: Good service, good treatment, and most important, free gourment coffees. What was most impressive, as she actually passed; ie..headlamp alignment, CV Drive axle boots, exhaust system, steering linkage, and of course, knew the tranny, and fluids were good due to prior service. I am concerned both front upper-ball, joint boots were documented as torn, as all the struts are original.
* All - Please feel free to private message me, and "skool" me on your knowledge on "Joint Boots."

Can you post a more clear pic of the report? There seems to be several red checks. Right rear brakes, both front tires, winshield washer..something. These free inspections are to find something wrong with the ar and to generate future repairs.
I think the upper ball joint boots can be replaced with a common $20 Audi part. I bought a pair, to have them in case I need it, but haven't yet used them. This was 10 years ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy but I think it was for an Audi 5000S. Otherwise a new Porsche replacement upper control arm (Porsche doeasn't sell the boots or joints seperatly) is very pricy.

Troubleshooting a tachometer glitch...
Turns out the circuit needed the 'shift' light.. which I removed cause it was
annoying. This caused the tach to go dead whenever the dash lights were on!
I suspected a bad connection to the dated multiconnector ribbon... so I went
to all this trouble... to find out that wasn't it. I was so happy to see the tach working
that I didn't get TOO annoyed at how much time I wasted chasing the problem.
