Brian,

Was the exterior color close? Is it a 5 speed? I don't know of any listed Amazon green with black interiors. I believe I have one of the few if not the only Amazon/cashmere GTS and all the others appear to be gray interior.

If it is Amazon I would be interested in seeing pictures of the car with the black interior. If it is not Amazon do you have any idea what color it is?

BTW Amazon is a great color and I am not a green fan. It looks more blue and black than green.

BTW most Boxster owners act that way to all Porsche's. I for one do not care for the Boxster even the S is lacking. IMO ALthough it is funny to see their faces when you dust them in an old 928.

Auto trans.

The car needed washing badly. Outdoors (under the dirt) it appeared metallic black. Once I pulled it into the shop it was apparent it's green. Like I said, it was advertised as black, so it's not just my eyes failing me.

It sounds like it might be either special order Forest Green, metallic black or a custom paint. Although Amazon appears black in some light it is obviously green/blue. The Metallic black of the 90's has a green cast to it, unlike the Basalt black used today that looks black.

Here are some pictures of Amazon green in different light

Get the ppi, have them look at the gas pedal and if everything is ok low ball the price. The guy must want to get rid of it, if he hasn't taken care of it. All the seals around my doors are factory fresh and its 8 years older. Can't imagine what is wrong with the gas pedal. Its a simple mechanism in that it pulls directly on the butterfly.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to give anyone any wedgies. It's tough to type sometimes and think about EVERYTHING and how it will be taken. Maybe I should have addressed the fact that it is a GTS. Of course, why should a GTS be taken care of better than any other 928? Without being suspicious to begin with and Red1 having no prior experience with a 928, I was merely saying Achtung! You guys can't tell me that when you are going to purchase a used car, having no idea of its background, you wouldn't be cautious. Seeing and noting these "minor" issues, MUST make one suspicious, if not, you are taking big chances. A buyer doesn't know you guys if you were to sell your car. Would you expect them to take your word for it if you said, "ahhh, those are insignificant items." Sorry brotha's if you are seriously taking care of your car, these things SHOULD be tended to. Who knows what decisions you are making on other items that you may feel aren't important when they are...especially to someone else. I do trust however, having seen you guys active on the Rennlist for a while, that your cars run well and you do only have small issues as you state.

We all deal with our cars and purchases differently. I am not dissing anyones car or maintenance habits. I AM however, offering my suggestions based on my personal experience to Red1. Again, what is a major item and what isn't? Uhmm, I think tires are major...look at the wear pattern. And throttle, I think I would be very concerned. Stiff throttles can turn into stuck throttles just for example.

Things tend to get very expensive on a GTS. If it is anything "less than", I would be VERY cautious. JMHO

On S4 and later models gas linkage is more complex than in 16V engines. There are several places where it can bind. Not very common to have problems in it but possible. Can be very simple to fix or need intake removal.

Mine sometimes sticks or hangs up at 1600 RPM, when coasting. I touch the pedal and it will drop to normal idle. Someone mentioned there is more than one place where it can bind -- anyone know where those points are? I just haven't gotten to it, but I guess I should move it up the list; the logical start point would be where linkage meets on left side of engine. WD-40.

Thanks. I've put a call into another mechanic. He knows 928s and he's the only person that works on my car besides me. I'll trust his judgement on that issue. I just didn't know how common this might be.

A stuck throttle is my concern. Having experienced that once in life, I have no desire to do that again.

Almost as much fun as no brakes I bet.

Good luck hope all works out in the end. Meatllic black with black interior sounds like a nice rare combo. Seals can be replaced and problems fixed. If the price is right go for it.

Complex linkage junction attached to left side of intake has six small bearings on those moving levers. If these are bad that is one point which can be problem besides obvious places like where cable comes out of shield. Under intake there is open piece of cable which goes around roller. Then there is throttle body itself.

There is also the possibility of moisture having gotten to the flappy bearing (under that rubber plug on top of the intake) If this bearing is trashed, then although an easy fix, a small PITA. With me, If I am going that far, lot's of things come off the engine then and it's rrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeFURBISHING time with powdercoating....

And fuel line maintenance is more important to me then oil changes and spark plugs. But almost everyone is diligent in changing the oil, and putting new plugs, caps, rotors, and wires on their cars. Having been bitten by the old OH **** my car is on FIRE! I tend to spend my money on fuel lines.

But hey my hatch don't work, half my interior lights are in-op, but by god I got some nice new fuel lines in there!!

Thanks for the laugh. I'm all too familiar with the "while-I'm-in-there" virus.
