Question Overheating

When left in idle for 2 -3 min after driving it get's very hot. The other day I was wayting at the drive in at McDonalds and it took some time and the meter started to go towards red, not all the way in red, but allmost. Is that normal....for 928. I know for sure it would never happend on my BMW.

You may have a bad fan clutch.

When you rev the engine while hot you should hear the fan accelerate. When shut off and hot, you should feel substantial resistance when turning the fan by hand. Also coulc be a clogged radiator.

Sounds like poor air flow, most likely fan clutch. Search for refilling silicon threads - Toyota part nos.

If nothing else, the electric fan should come on to help out. Verify that the electric fan works, it will help a lot. The mechanical fan doesn't move a lot of air at idle.

Fix the fan clutch. Been there, done that. The electric can whirr its little fan too death and not move enough air, especially if the AC is on.

Looked at blueshark's homepage. Fantastic, it look's very easy, so I've ordered the silicon at toyota. Looking forward to fix it.
