Likely the timing belt went.
Which implies maintenance was probably not done.
That's a 15K Porsche with a 3900 dollar cover charge and a 2000 drink minimum....

I guess if I was in the market for a project, this would be a candidate. Whole replacement engine isn't so high, is it Jim?

if its timing belt, then pull the engine tear the heads down and spend about $3000 tops in parts $1000 in head work and your set. DIY ers need apply only, if you had a shop do this work then this value looses its luster. And say your 8K into it you still have $7,000 to fix the tranny or whatever else it needs.

I'm not sayin it's not worth it. I'm just saying what it's really going to cost when all's said and done. Whoever buys it needs to have their eyes open, their checkbooks ready, and a nice set of snap-ons wouldn't hurt.

If that car was closer, I'd be ALL over it. I'd try to get it for $2500 but would go higher depending on condition. I have a really good low mile 32v engine I could slide right in there. I had seen it on auto-trader about a week ago. I have to many "irons in the fire" as it is.... Our newest addition to the family should arrive in a few weeks, if not sooner, and I'm getting ready to start the engine swap and turbo conversion next week. This would really work well for me since I already have a complete motor, it's just bad timing..

Has anyone seen this car in person? If we are just speculating on the condition I would wonder if the driver seat has a big tear, motor mounts are collapsed, oil pan needs replacing, ball joints are worn, exterior color, tires, windshield crack, TB, WP, radiator, intake refreshing etc. But then again "This posting has been deleted by its author". Hopefully a rennlister got a good deal on this car or the seller is planning on advertising elsewhere for $5k plus.
